US President Donald Trump has proposed a mutual cancellation of "all tariffs, barriers and subsidies" in trade with the European Union in order to provide "fair trade". He is due to conduct business negotiations with European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker on Wednesday.

"The European Union is coming to Washington tomorrow to negotiate a deal on Trade. I have an idea for them. Both the US and the US drop all Tariffs, Barriers and Subsidies! That would finally be called Free Market and Fair Trade! Hope they do, we are ready - but they will not!" Trump said from his Twitter account.

US House Speaker Paul Ryan told a news conference he hoped current trade tensions between the United States and the European Union would result in a mutual reduction of trade barriers.

Trade relations between the EU and the US have been strained since Trump imposed high tariffs on steel and aluminum imports against dozens of countries, including Europe's bloc, in June. The European Union has imposed its own barriers on US products in response.

During his presidential campaign, Trump promised to change the country's trade policies with protectionism.

Following his inauguration, Trump began to deliver on its promises by withdrawing the United States from the Transpacific Partnership (TPP), renegotiating the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), and imposing additional tariffs on its trading partners.

EU Trade Commissioner Cecilia Malmstrom and Japan's Economy Minister Hiroshige Seko met in Brussels back in March for preliminary talks before receiving US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer - a follower of the "America's First" mantra.

Initially, the meeting aimed to discuss China's oversupply of steel, but after Trump's announcement, the meeting became a crisis cabinet.

"We are looking for a bit more clarity about the process than what happens in the US," a European Union official said on condition of anonymity to the AFP news agency back in March.

"There are few expectations of any solution today, but maybe we can get an idea of how we can get to one," the source added.

The most intense part of the trade war is with China however.

Comment: As noted in Trump drops the EU's value as an ally to zero, Trump's 'Art of the deal' goes as follows:

Identify a big goal (tax cuts, balanced trade, the wall, etc.).

Identify your leverage points versus anyone who stands in your way (elections, tariffs, jobs, etc.).

Announce some extreme threat against your opponent that uses your leverage.

If the opponent backs down, mitigate the threat, declare victory and go home with a win.

If the opponent fires back, double down. If Trump declares tariffs on $50 billion of goods from China, and China shoots back with tariffs on $50 billion of goods from the U.S., Trump doubles down with tariffs on $100 billion of goods, etc. Trump will keep escalating until he wins."

Cancellation of tarriffs is a great idea. But I don't see other countries going to 0 tarriffs and having a fair playing field. They've gotten too use to having an advantage over the U.S.

They've agreed to make an agreement. But still they aren't going to want to have a level playing field. They want to keep their tarriffs while we don't have any.

75% of the steamship vessel shipping containers leaving U.S ports and destine for China are empty folks. They are being sent back into the rotation

What does that tell you about a fair and level playing field

We have been getting reamed for... years.

It's called negotiating. Trump isn't trying to get us into a trade war. He is trying to get us better trade deals. It's sad liberals refuse to see that he is doing the right thing for our country. He is trying to fix decades of career politicians making bad trade deals so they could get a pat on the back from another country. Then sm8le and tell the American people it's in their best interest.

If Trump walks back on anything I'm sure there is justifications for doing so..but just keep putting people like Hillary or Obarry in office and watch as your children and your children's children are marched off to war to line the pockets of the Deep State..Trump may not be perfect ..but he sure is a hell of a lot better than those losers we've had in office or that Evil Queen you Dems would have put in office..with wars in Iran and Nkorea already sitting on the burners waiting to go..

The only reason we aren't being nuked is because all of the Trump supporters were smart enough to see what was in store if we had elected that LOSER EVIL QUEEN Hillary in office..and while some still haven't recognized what we did by voting him in office you may want to thank those people rather than ripping their hats off their head or throwing them out of restaurants..because the reason your family members aren't dying in major wars to fill the pockets of the Deep State right now is because of them..But you all don't seem to get that Do you?

We could debate whether any or all of the past presidents were Deep state affiliated..some I'm sure were..I will not concern myself to getting in deep on those presidents..can't do much about that..but as the major main few ..Trump,Hillary, or Obama is the here and now and where I place my main concern because it is those who will have a major impact as to the direction we are headed..at present..

The truth will come out ..and we can get a pretty good picture as to who will be going to prison..and it won't be Trump..smokin

There is no longer a debate here..the Deep State has been exposed and those affiliated will soon find themselves in prison..end of story..I'm out..#WINNING...WWG1 WGA..
