I understand what you are saying, but...bear this in mind..
Accidents or serious illness can happen to anyone, at any age...none of us are guaranteed another day.
You could get with a younger weomsan, and something could happen that she died first.

My late husband was 3 years younger than me, and died in his sleep from a condition no one knew he had (asymptomatic, subclinical).

Why about women near your age (as oppossed to "older" ones")...?
What's wrong with that?
"Statistics' show in women and men of the same age...it is *usually* the woman who lives longer.

All of that is true.

My friend who passed away on Monday was only 35!!!

To some extent, it's really just old school irrationalism on my part.

My father was 9 years older than my mother, but he aged more gracefully. My mother died first, but my dad died 19 months later.

My grandfather was something like 11 years older than my grandmother, and he aged more gracefully too. He died 20 years before my grandmother.

My *other* grandmother died 15 years before my other grandfather.

Because I'm healthier than both my parents, I will probably live longer than they did. Plus I tend to age like my father did. I would rather be like my parents, parting from this world about the same time as my spouse/partner. So I keep wanting to take these things into account.

And yet, none of us know what the future holds. Any rationalization or justifications won't hold up. It's purely irrational on my part, no matter how else I'd like it to be.

You don’t have that stuff for a sandwich? What’s wrong with you?

Hey, I'm a CONFIRMED bachelor. The only food-stuffs I have on hand are; the number for the pizza delivery guy, the number for the Chinese delivery guy, and the number for the sandwich delivery guy. Oh, and some beer. And I think there's some milk turning into cheese in the back of the fridge somewhere behind the martini olives.

Can we talk about pizza instead?

Or turtles?

What about both? happy I love to eat pizza while I observe my two red-snapper turtles in their tank. So relaxing.

according to me;

a marriage based on mutual love, respect and tolerance is not bad.
If this marriage dinner is salted with love salt, this dish will taste very nice.

You have a life partner you trust.
you two are laughing together.
You two are joking. and singing.
you are looking forward to eating together.
you call each other "I love you very much".
There is a very safe person who can share it when you get bored.

so;
There is someone you trust in all aspects of sociologycal, psychological, sexual, economic and life.

I do not know. such a marriage would only smell good. I don't think it's gonna smell bad.

maybe I just wrote the positive aspects.

just a point of view...

Yes, you left out negative aspects, however, a love like that would strengthen a marriage in such a way that the negative aspects would seem few and far between.

there is a saying here.
"Loving the rose-blossom, folding his thorn."

so;
man tolerates the negative aspects of the person he loves.
  in other words, he little sees the negative aspects.
  or negates the negative aspects.

laugh I think he meant something else. Translation isn't always accurate.

No marriage to a folded thorn. Been there, done that. glasses

"Love the rose blossom, folding his thorn" to me means love the beauty, the positive... Put away the things that harm, the negatives.

I believe the translation he intended was:

Who loves a rose will endure its thorns.

Which is a common Turkish proverb.
