Topic: Trauma again with mass shooting

Waking up to another mass shooting today. It is just confusing to me. This person was a vet, so his mental health will undoubtedly be seen as the root, instead of his character. And I really think that whatever it is called, mental health issues or character issues, whatever people BLAME with their biases, the bottom line is TRAUMA. These people, whether they are privileged enough to have the kind of medical care to receive diagnosis of 'mental health' or underprivileged enough to just be seen as 'thugs' with character flaws, have some type of trauma or imbalance in their lives that brings out these desperate acts. And while we get up in arms about illegal immigrants merely existing in the country, we get no closer to doing something about the ACTUAL harm being caused right here by home grown citizens.

There have to be answers and maybe if we spent as much time tearing these individuals down with discussion about blame and assumptions about character, we could get closer to actually having a safer nation.

Here is the story:

Using a smoke bomb and a handgun, a hooded former Marine dressed all in black opened fire during college night at a country music bar in Southern California, killing 12 people and sending hundreds fleeing in panic before apparently taking his own life, authorities said Thursday.

Authorities said the motive for the attack Wednesday night was under investigation.

And yet white men who do this are never called terrorists...even though they are *clearly* domestic terrorists.

Wasn't it a bar? Alcohol probably was a factor.

Poor kids having a fun night out and enjoying a few drinks are to be blamed for a sober nutjob shooting his way into a bar and creating havoc . And that poor sobber officer that gave his life in the line of duty . You would have to be a complete idiot to think otherwise

I didn't hear all the details. I was getting ready for work. Bars usually have cheating spouse or bf/gf. Fighting. Stabbings and shootings are pretty normal. I don't go because it's always drama. I have listened to it on Monday morning from coworkers.

He was a 28 yr old Veteran with PTSD He had previously been considered having mental health issues.

Mental Health in the US needs to be Addressed by our government.
It is a huge problem among many.

This Terrible shooting took place in an upscale area. A place where there is usually no violence and safe to go out.

"The Talk" on TV discussed this today!

Happened 30 miles from their TV Studios

The guy was a nut, regardless of being a Marine or not.

I will say that one of my sons who served had a very difficult time adjusting after he was done with his service. I am not saying for one minute that, that is a excuse for mass murder.. its not... nothing is. but something very wrong is going on in the military to affect the amount of people who need mental health attention after doing their service.

I have several Family members that served in the Military.

My dad was even in the Navy WWII .

Many Veterans often need help in some forum after Serving .Not everyone but many do.

This Country. Would rather take care if Illegals first before taking care
Of their own Citizens First.

We seen that in the Past administration Big Time.

yes, we did.

4 years ago,my son got hurt in the Marine Corp.. bad. And dealing with the V.A. was a friggin nightmare.. a joke.. actually .. a disgrace.

I actually had to reach out ( of desperation) and get a Senator involved. Then, and only then did their attitude and the care for my son change. That in itself is a disgrace that a parent has to go to those lengths to get the care for a serviceman who got hurt in the line of duty.

but we give money and healthcare away to illegals.. and don't give the Vets the care they deserve...and earned.

your kid gets wounded serving.. and you figure he will be well cared for...think again.

It is a shame that vets dont get the care they need.

and it is a shame that domestic and illegals commit fraud to take advantage of certain systems in this country.

We have a system to deal with the crime of fraud. We need a better system to deal with those in need of mental health care and for vets in general.
