Stick around Widower, read the forums and make some posts. Just enjoy the site for what it is, a place to hang out and make some new friends. A lot of the old ones have left, but hang around and make some new friends.

Iron, haven't seen you around for awhile. Hope things have been going well for you.

Things just change with time, and change is always awkward, the site is just going through growing pains. People get busy and take time away. Some people have found partners, etc. I think you should stick around and make some new friends, don't give up on the site Widower, give it another chance. My thoughts anyways.

Marie,

How did the site change? Did the format change? Or the People?

seems like the site itself has changed, the most of the oldtimers are gone, just not right for me with all the new people most of them so young. also a dating site it is not at least for me no one close to me.

I have been here over a year, a lot of the "originals" have left. In the beginning (gee, I sound like "God" here, sorry) things weren't very structured, and there was what seemed to be a wider age span I guess. There have been a lot of rule changes, which have been good, don't get me wrong, we had some major issues in the past with some members, so the rules have helped, but change is always change and at times hard to adjust to. One thing I think some of us "older" generation is noticing is that the newer members are quite a bit younger. There is nothing wrong with that either. But, I think some of us miss some of the old crew we started with too.

Change is inevitable and is good. I have met some really good people on here. I think people should give the site a chance instead of pulling out, just hang around and take the time to meet some of the newer people. That is basically what I was saying.

You know I am not so sure the site has changed that much. I think I have changed far more than this site has and my view of this site has changed far more than anything.

This site is nothing more than a small part of the plan.

I guess it depends on what you're looking for on here. I'm not trying to date anyone, so it's working out fine for me, but if it's not working for you, sorry and good luck. :)

Widower, you might as well stick around! Hey, I've been here a whole year and have yet to run across even one person who's remotely datable. Now I'm just trying to find someone to do my laundry....

I am relatively new to the site, the whole internet social networking altogether, and have noticed a lot of words of wisdom from the mature folks here. The young ones do need guidance from your life experiences. I know I do. Please reconsider and give us youngsters an opportunity to be guided on the right path.

I agree Lex, and when you find someone to do your laundry, heck send them my way, okay???? Just kidding.

I came on here to make friends and I have done just that. Where else can you go and make friends from all across the United States, Canada, Australia and anywhere else someone decides to log on from. But I have met incredible people, people I would have never met normally in my life. You never know while you are making these friends either if one of them may become more than a friend, you just keep your options open and you never know what might happen.

What is the worst that can happen?? You get a sore butt from sitting on the chair for hours, carpal tunnel from typing for hours and you go cross-eyed from reading the computer screen for so long --- but seriously, you expand your base of friends, have a lot of laughs if you are lucky, share some sadness and tears, share prayers for someone going through a hard time, and if you are really lucky, you may meet your life partner. But, if you don't spend some time on here talking to people and making friends, you will never know if that person is out there, and you miss out on some really good friends. At least that is what I have found.

If you have other things that you can do to "socialize" then that is what you should do...but, just because you haven't found someone to replace what you had, you are not going to find that easily. I look at this site as, support. Friends that help you...smile...feel important...Loved...while we pass the time waiting for that one special person, if we are that fortunate, to find us. Still need friends to get there tho and you can't give that up.
