This is a genuine question because I see a similarity.

Obama pushed for healthcare but was wrong to say everyone would keep their doctor, since they didnt.

Trump is pushing for the wall but was wrong to say Mexico will pay for it, because they arent.

Trump is using the budget to blackmail congress into taxpayer funding the wall. Did this same technique get used when Obama was trying to push healthcare? I honestly dont remember. I dont think he held up federal pay over the issue, did he?

I will look it up when I wake up in the morning ...

FYI

In 2018 and 2019, President Donald Trump himself said that he was "proud" to usher in a shutdown to fund a border wall. By contrast, President Barack Obama was opposed to the 2013 shutdown — which was triggered by the actions of the House and Senate; almost all accounts credited Ted Cruz with engineering a shutdown in 2013, an impasse considered unwelcome by Democrats and Republicans alike.

The second claim in the Facebook posts was perhaps more relevant than the first, suggesting the that action was undertaken in 2013 to "force Obamacare." This is clear disinformation. At the time of the 2013 shutdown, the ACA had already been established law for three years. By contrast, no such law existed to secure border wall funding as of December 2018 or January 2019.

The claims were unfounded on both points. The 2013 shutdown was primarily advanced by Cruz, as recounted by fellow Republicans in the intervening years, and the 2013 shutdown was an effort to defund an existing law, not an attempt by President Barack Obama to pass a law that already existed at the time of that shutdown.

Trump administration officials admit mistakes while trying to tie terrorism to southern border

"In the days leading up to President Donald Trump's televised address to the nation on Tuesday night to promote his southern border wall, administration officials have justified the proposal by claiming that thousands of terrorists are pouring across that border.

Trump says federal workers support his border wall shutdown. Pelosi says he's 'almost' delusional.

"President Trump has claimed repeatedly that many federal workers directly impacted by partial U.S. government shutdown have been telling him to keep up the fight for his border wall. Nearly two dozen furloughed government employees appeared alongside Democratic leaders at a news conference on Wednesday in Washington, D.C., where they were asked by a reporter to raise their hand if they supported the president’s position and want to see a wall built.

None of them did".

..Yea well that's MANAFORT I mean c'mon an ongoing 35 million dollar investigation and I'm still waiting to see the "TRUMP" Russian collusion evidence I mean that's what this COUP is all about..that and deflection..I mean after all if we're not talking EVERYTHING negative Trump and collusion conspiracy theories than we would be talking about CROOKED Hillary and all the nefarious deeds she's been up to..that can be PROVEN..where's the investigation..IN SECRET no leaking to the press..

Like I've said look into the UN migration Pact look into the New World Order look into Soros and you tell me who is standing against that and not to mention the pedophilia the coup the emails yet to be shown from Huma's pedophile husband A.Weiner..and there's the FED and the UN's attempt to control our country ..a multi pronged silent coup aimed at Trump..so all their crooked under handed traitorous deeds don't get exposed..and this is why it's always negative Trump..

They want him out not because he's a bad president it's because they want the control back that has kept us ENSLAVED for decades while they stole our wealth sold our secrets and put every citizen at risk while sending our family members off to false narrative wars full of lies..We are ALL living in a MATRIX created by the elite to benefit the elite..and that elite is GLOBAL and now the GLOBALISTS want it all even if that means the destruction of the sovereignty of EVERY nation to obtain it's goal..of a New World Order..and the UN migration Pact is an invasion of sorts to destroy the identities the culture and the sovereignty of all the nations that accept it..WHY would any leader vote to allow this is beyond me..
Not to mention as if the citizens aren't struggling enough now you want to add the burden of supporting hundreds of thousands of people..where will they find the funding..maybe by increasing the gas tax or any other tax for that matter..

But just remember the main stream media is under CIA control along with so many other news outlets..We KNOW that the media has been lying to us for years..why would we want to start believing them again or now ..As far as a CLUE I have more than a clue as to how important our president is as opposed to inadvertently helping those overthrow our government.. our country..now there's a clue for ya..

three questions

1. What seven countries are we 'warring' against?

2. What is state run news?

3. Why is unchecked 'independent' news which caters to NO ONE and has no real consequence to untruthfulness any better than news which caters to its sponsors? Unless you are referring to news that is sponsored through public donations and has its public audience to answer to for paying bills and less of a clear spin to advance (assuming the public is diverse).

Trump Is Actually Taking Steps To Secure Wall Funding Through A National Emergency

"With no end in sight to the government shutdown, President Donald Trump’s administration is reportedly laying the groundwork to declare a national emergency to access funds for his much-debated wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.

Sources familiar with the preparations told The Washington Post and CNN that Trump is eyeing billions of unspent dollars from the Defense Department’s disaster recovery and military construction coffers to build the wall ― a project for which Democrats have refused to approve funding and that Trump is unwilling to bend on".

http://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-actually-taking-steps-secure-000517608.html

According to past Supreme Court decisions, to declare a national emergency, the "threat" must be unprecedented and such that it could hot have been anticipated. Being the number of border crossings is about 1/3 of what it was a decade ago, it would be very hard to justify this emergency legally. Now, as the Constitution requires Congress to appropriate money, and if you can use a campaign slogan as an excuse to bypass the power of Congress, we no longer have a president, we have a king. Or, in this case, A little dictator.

GOP had TWO WHOLE YEARS to build the wall when they had the presidency and full control in Congress. They did ABSOLUTELY nothing and now hundreds of government workers are struggling to put food on the table.

Party over country.

The Great Wall of Trump is supported by only 35% of Americans.
I guess that makes it a National Emergency to Trump. It sure wasn’t one
for the past two years when the GOP controlled Congress.

This is all a contrived situation to ignore where money should come from to fund the wall. If Mexico is not going to pay for it, why should the middle-class taxpayer? The wall could have been funded when the GOP controlled both houses of Congress. Instead, they voted for tax cuts that only benefited the wealthy and they attempted to strip middle-class Americans from having healthcare. If they truly believe the wall is necessary, why not rescind the tax cuts given to the wealthy to pay for it? To not work on the funding implies theft committed on the U.S. middle-class taxpayer. This wall was not sold to the American public in that they should bear the cost. If the GOP wants to spend money, they have to put the taxes back. The middle-class taxpayer should be angry about this whether you are Democrat or Republican.

Watch Live: Trump Visits Southern U.S. Border As Government Shutdown Continues | NBC News

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_dkqzzIeq8

So $5billion dollar wall intended to stop 130 people daily? That's a stupid cost/benefit ratio! What about cars, trucks, ships, airports...etc!
And what was the point of flying out the corps and having that press conference in a sandlot.?!

Gimme some of that stuff he's smoking.

This is rank abuse of power ... holding 800,000+ innocent federal employees (and the vital services they perform for our nation) hostage, over a stupid promise about a stupid wall that the majority of voters do not want. Those poor souls are facing awful hardships, unable to pay their mortgages, car loans, medical bills. Real people are going to wind up out in the street, or dead, because of Trump's stupid wall tantrum. If there is a terrorist attack that gets through because the TSA was not getting paid, those deaths will be on Trump's head.

McConnell is equally guilty. He blocked the bipartisan measures that would have reopened the government and killed negotiations efforts that were underway because Trump ordered it. Congress is supposed to be a separate branch of the government that checks and balances the power of the POTUS ... colluding with the president to paralyze the government violates the intent of the founding fathers.

And a thought,

Declaring a national emergency will give Trump the ability to do things he has tried to do illegally but failed. Laws can be ignored covering a hell of a lot of things outside the wall. Trump would be gaining powers that most presidents have not had, even the power to be a dictator and ignore the other branches of government. Do not assume that Trump has good motives for declaring a national emergency. Trump could be laying down a way to avoid prosecution for crimes against the nation.

In Texas border town, skepticism ahead of Trump visit to push wall

"MCALLEN, Texas (Reuters) - The serene National Butterfly Center in Hidalgo County, Texas, occupies a 100-acre preserve steps away from the U.S.-Mexico line, where President Donald Trump is expected to visit on Thursday to push for a southern border wall.

But for Marianna Trevino-Wright, the center's director, it is the barrier itself - not an influx of criminals - that poses the greatest risk to the sanctuary, given that current plans call for the wall to bisect its property.

"But for Marianna Trevino-Wright, the center’s director, it is the barrier itself - not an influx of criminals - that poses the greatest risk to the sanctuary, given that current plans call for the wall to bisect its property.

“Why on earth would me and my husband live here, and work here, and rear six children here, if it wasn’t safe?” she said.

In McAllen, the county’s largest city, several officials and residents interviewed by Reuters expressed skepticism over Trump’s claim that a wall is required to end what he described as a “crisis” in an Oval Office address on Tuesday.

Seby Haddad, a commercial lender at a regional bank, said he watched this binational community grow for decades because of immigration, not in spite of it.

He rejected the notion that a border wall would help stem the flow of illicit drugs, noting that most narcotics are smuggled in vehicles at official checkpoints, according to government data.

“It doesn’t fix any problem,” said Haddad, 38. “It’s an archaic solution".

And this is from people who live there. The people who live there should know how safe they are. If they aren't worried about the people who cross there, why is Trump?

Trump has tried to ruin the legacy of Obama any way he can. Through hook or crook. Just so he can try to build his up on the back of Obama. Put down Obama, build up himself. And it's backfiring on him.

I might get fooled. But I personally believe that Trump will not get his way on this one. The Democrats are not going to give over to his insane and costly whims. He will either settle for what they are willing to let him have Or, he will just plain out not get it at all.

Which, I hate it that these people are going without a check. But at the same time, I don't want the Democrats to give over at all. Find another way, Trumpy. This wall will cost more than 5 billion in the long run. He has gotten us as a nation in deep enough with his tax breaks for the rich. At least Obama was trying to pull the country out of the ruin that Bush put us in when he added to deficits.

Trump is trying to put us back into ruin with the way he is going about it. Tax breaks for the rich and a wall that can run as high as 70 billion or more to build.

Trump isn't trying to help the country. He's trying to help himself.

74 percent of Americans say government shutdown is 'embarrassing for the country'

"With the current shutdown of the federal government about to become the longest in U.S. history, most Americans aren’t celebrating.

Nearly three-quarters of U.S. citizens surveyed said the prolonged impasse over whether to fund President Trump’s wall on the border with Mexico is “embarrassing for the country,” according to an NPR/Ispos Poll released Friday.

More Democrats (78 percent) expressed their embarrassment than Republicans (56 percent), and a large majority (71 percent) said they thought Congress should pass a bill to reopen the government while budget talks continue".
