Senate GOP Not Willing to Give Up Filibuster for Trump's Stupid Border Wall

"President Donald Trump discovered this morning that there may be some limit to the blind lengths that Senate Republicans will go to support him. Chief among them—Mitch McConnell and other Senate Republicans reportedly aren't willing to give up their precious ability to filibuster just so Trump can ram through a spending bill with $5.7 billion in funding for his border wall".

In Syria retreat, Trump rebuffs top advisers and blindsides U.S. commanders

"WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump overrode his top national security aides, blindsided U.S. ground commanders, and stunned lawmakers and allies with his order for U.S. troops to leave Syria, a decision that upends American policy in the Middle East".

Jim Acosta: Trump 'Hates' Mattis Letter — And News Stories That He Needs Adult Supervision

"He hates that letter,” Acosta said, citing a source close to the White House who “advises the president occasionally.” But he added that Trump is even more upset by the “conventional wisdom” that Mattis and some others in his administration “were sort of the adults in the room ... to keep the president from going overboard, to be a check on his impulses.”

Trump is “irritated by this notion here in Washington that he is sometimes in need of adult daycare,” Acosta added".

Trump: Government shutdown will last 'a very long time' if the border wall isn't funded

"President Donald Trump doubled down on his assertion to shut down the government if a new spending measure omits his request for billions of dollars in funding for a border wall".

Trump is trying to shift the blame for the Trump shutdown to the Democrats by constantly saying “if the Democrats don’t vote to fund the Wall.” Let’s be perfectly clear. It is a Trump shutdown. And he originally said he was proud to do so.

Just a little over a year now and we can be rid of this buffoon. That is if he doesn't do something really stupid first. His Reaganomics economy is already started going down.

Trump Issues Dark Warning About Immigrants In New Plea For Wall Funding

"President Donald Trump responded to legislators’ impasse over funding for his border wall with a doom-filled warning about the dangers of immigrants as he tweeted about border security in all caps".

http://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-issues-dark-warning-immigrants-043053785.html

We have quite a lot of border security, and there is no evidence at all that 'drugs are pouring in' through the land borders, or drugs, human captives or gangs. Where is the evidence? Like the 10 terrorists that were captured in 'a short period of time' that he made up recently. Trump is just beating the drums to keep his base stirred up, and wasting our money in the process. Congress needs to do their job and control such frivolous spending before he runs the whole country into bankruptcy.

He claims to care about border security n the South when he has left us vulnerable as a nation by removing troops. Trump must have his own contractors waiting to build a wall to have government money paid into his businesses as he does with Maro Largo.

His base. He has been making fools of them since day one. He played right into there hate for anyone that isn't, well, his chosen "color" or "gender". He told many out-right lies to his base.

Especially the one about the "wall" and get Mexico to pay for it. It was a lie right from the start. He can't get Mexico to do jack shyt. He has no pull with Mexico at all. Maybe if Trump had built a high rise in Mexico City, instead of Moscow and offering a room to Putin?

The Week in Washington: “The Most Chaotic Presidency Ever".

"Christmas on Pennsylvania Avenue! Melania flew in from Palm Beach yesterday so that she could spend the holiday with her husband, who was holed up in Washington due to a government shutdown of his own making. The situation is the result of the president and Congress's inability to come to an agreement about funding for that damnable border wall, which Mexico is apparently not paying for".

China is officially over American soybeans

"China did not import a single US soybean in November, the first time sales to the country have dropped to zero since US president Donald Trump initiated a trade war with the country earlier this year. In place of American soybeans, China bought more than five million metric tons of the seeds from Brazil last month, nearly twice the 2.76 million metric tons it purchased from Brazilian farmers a year earlier, Reuters reported, citing data from the General Administration of Customs. Chinese leader Xi Jinping imposed a 25% tariff on US imports last July in response to those placed on Chinese goods by president Trump".

Welcome to long-term farm subsidies where farmers will still farm at losing cost and the government will top up the balance so that they will be profitable.

Didn't ALL these states choose Trump? Eleven (11) states produced over 125 million bushels of soybeans in 2013: Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Indiana, Nebraska, Ohio, Missouri, South Dakota, Arkansas, North Dakota & Kansas.

Government shutdown, day 3: Trump complains he's 'all alone' waiting for Democrats to deal

"WASHINGTON – As the partial government shutdown entered a third day on Monday, President Donald Trump sought to cajole Democrats into a budget agreement that remained elusive, at one point lamenting he was "all alone" waiting for a deal".

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2018/12/24/white-house-awaits-democratic-reply-counteroffer-during-shutdown/2402106002/

Tweeted Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla, “This is about denying (Trump) a win on a signature agenda item that he promised the American people". Gaetz needs to remember Trump also promised the American people repeatedly that Mexico would pay for the wall. I am already paying for a tax break for the wealthy. I cannot afford a wall.

Twas the night before Christmas
When in the White House
The President tweeted,
Ignoring his spouse.

“No leader ever
has been so first rate.
I’m better than Santa
And America’s great!”

He decided to nestle
All snug in his bed
While border wall visions
danced in his head.

When on the South Lawn
There arose such a clatter
He turned on Fox News to see
What was the matter?

When what to his wondering
Eyes in a daze
Came all his “best people”
In three different sleighs.

Now Tillerson, Mattis
Now Kelly, McMaster,
Now Priebus and Sessions!
Trump said, “A disaster.”

Now Flynn, Porter, Pruitt,
Hicks, Bannon, and Price,
Omarosa and Zinke!
Trump said, “They were nice.”

Then a grand golden sleigh
It flew ’round the bend
Now Vladimir Putin . . .
Trump said, “My best friend.”

Trump called Kellyanne,
She told him a rumor:
A fourth sleigh was coming,
Pelosi and Schumer.

Trump drew in his head
And was turning around,
When right down the chimney
Someone came with a bound.
Not Chuck and not Nancy
His nose like a cherry
A stranger appeared
A man legendary.

“My name’s Robert Mueller
I’m hardly an elf.”
A prosecutor, special
In spite of himself.

And out of his bundle
A present appeared.
The label said “Report,”
And Trump he just sneered.

“A witch hunt!” Trump yelled
As he came to the brink.
“Bah teetotaling —
Give me a drink!”

He looked at the gift card,
Holding his beer.
The message said, “Open this
Sometime next year.”

And so we will wait
To find what is inside
We’ll know who was good and
We’ll know who has lied.

The three Christmas sleighs
At once gave a whistle,
And away they all flew, like
The down of a thistle.

“The year’s almost over,”
Trump said with a frown.
“It’s 2018 —
It’s time to shut down.”

The stock market falters
The world’s in a tizzy,
Meanwhile back home
We shop ’til we’re dizzy.

We fret and we worry,
We question the wall —
Now dash away, dash away,
Dash away all!

We hope that the future
Is joyous and bright,
Merry Christmas to all
And to all a good night.

Trump once boasted of market gains, now tweets cause drops

"The year started with President Donald Trump promising big growth for stocks.

In January, he shared excitement over a "big day" on Wall Street. By June, the president was tweeting: "Stock Market up almost 40% since the Election." When the market hit a record high on Aug. 25, Trump tweeted, "Congratulations U.S.A.!" And there was more excitement on Oct. 3: "The Stock Market just reached an All-Time High during my Administration for the 102nd Time, a presidential record, by far, for less than two years."

Now, as those gains are wiped away, the president is attacking the Federal Reserve for the stock market's woes — and those tweets are pushing share prices even lower".

Didn't Trump say ISIS was defeated?

IS-claimed attack on Libya foreign ministry kills at least three

"Tripoli (AFP) - Suicide attackers stormed the Libyan foreign ministry in the capital Tripoli on Tuesday, killing at least three people including a senior civil servant in an attack claimed by the Islamic State jihadist group".

http://www.yahoo.com/news/attackers-hit-libya-foreign-ministry-tripoli-one-dead-100922622.html

This story is an obvious fake liberal media lie, what else is new? Our wonderful, dear and supremely elected and heavenly installed leader has already informed the world that we have defeated ISIS. We have bee assured by the greatest mind and stable genius of our times that it is a done deal and we are to bring our soldiers and worries home. We will be good apostles and repeat from here until such a time as he sees fit, that ISIS is no more, ISIS has been decimated, ISIS is history, even knowing it is not the truth. For we all know, as Trump is actively teaching, that if we repeat it enough, there will be no ISIS, it will come true by seeming true just by sheer repetition, just like his other dutifully repeated imaginary accomplishments.

Sounds like he is slowly losing his base. Which is a good thing. It means that some are starting to open their eyes to what's really going on.

Trump's coalition cracking over his policies and personality

"BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich. (AP) — Jill Mott doesn't like the tweets. The hard line on the border is too hard. And when asked whether she will vote for President Donald Trump a second time, she lets out a long, deep sigh.

"That is the question," said Mott, a Republican from suburban Detroit.

In her moment of hesitancy, Mott is the portrait of a small, but significant slice of voters poised to wield considerable influence in the 2020 presidential campaign. They are the 18 percent of voters who described themselves as only "somewhat" approving of the president.

It's a group whose backing for Trump is most tenuous and whose reservations about his personality and his policies reveal warning signs for Republicans, perhaps even more so as he dug in on his demand for a U.S.-Mexico border wall, leading to a budget impasse with Congress that has shut down the government around Christmas".

http://www.yahoo.com/news/trumps-reluctant-backers-sour-leadership-policies-162410140--election.html

The president won Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania by fewer than 80,000 votes combined." -- is the key. Based on what we saw in the midterms, and polls coming out of those regions, Trump is not going to win those states again. The moderate voters in those areas were willing to give him a chance in 2016, but Trump forgets that those moderates are center-right to center-left and his policies, as well as his unrelenting attacks on the center and the center left, are not winning any friends in those regions.

A president can't govern strictly from one side of the aisle and expect to be embraced by the electorate at large, and Trump has been all right and no left. Without those 3 states, he simply doesn't win reelection in 2020 - the math is the math - he has burned a lot of bridges with his fiery rhetoric, and the chants he provokes at his rallies are not inviting to the center or the center-left to shore up his numbers. I don't see how he wins in 2020 unless he takes a huge dive to the center, and that may very well alienate his personal base. Mathematically, he is between a rock and a hard place.

Thank you. This morning I got my 100th thank you message from a person I didn't even know was here. I've had long talks with each and every one of them. They shared their feelings with me in private. Just like all others, this one told me that he and his wife follow the political forums. And have for many years.

They saw what I saw when I first started paying attention to the forums. At least 90% of what was posted here was nothing but bashing people because they believed differently. So, they just read. But never post here. Now, the playing field is level. If someone wants to bash the Democrats with no real evidence to prove what they say, or some far-right conspiracy theory, at least they can read the other side. And find for themselves what makes sense.

He told me that a lot of what I post he already knows about. But he also told me that many times I find things that slipped past him that he didn't get a chance to read about. Many have told me that.

When I first started this, it was just a new's thread. No more, no less. I never thought that I would get messages from people thanking me for turning these threads around. It never crossed my mind that there were so many that were tired of the same old hat.

What got me started was when I was moderating these threads. I don't know about any other moderator. But for me, it was every single day, several times a day, I was coming to these threads and I would either have to lock them down or delete a bunch of nasty comments from people that seemed to make it there lifes mission to constantly bash anyone that didn't agree with them.

I thought that was the most ridiculous thing I ever saw. Thinking people want to know the truth. People with reasonable minds care very little about conspiracy theories. They want to know what going on in the White House with the little orange dictator wannabe. They care very little about reading silly arguments and crazy conspiracy. Right now this thread is going towards 1,500 views. It proves it's self.

But can you imagine how hard a blow his ego would take if his votes plummeted and he was pummeled next election? They talked about Hilary's ego,, but I'm imagining it wont be pretty.

I agree with the new kid! Until Congress is actually doing their job, submitting and approving a BUDGET, not continuing resolution, their salaries should be $0. As to the furloughed, I say if they aren't working they shouldn't get paid. Let them use their vacation/sick pay if they wish, or actually, show up & work for a government-backed IOU that will be paid when the budget is approved. Other than that, they should not get paid for not working, no matter the cause. In the private sector, that is the way it works for us!
