Now this is just my opinion and thoughts.

I've had Norton in the pass up until some time this year, I think right around Sep or so I finally give up and since I get free softwear with AOL and Comcast, I thought I'd take use of Mcafee all in one Ant I virus suit.

I must say it does a hell of a lot better job then Norton ever has for me.

If I mistaken lee open an email it catchs pretty much all the virus.

I am really happy about uninstalling Norton and installing Mcafee.

It has safe poof my pc from a lot of problems that Norton would normally miss because it wouldn't up date right etc.

So I am giving Mcafee an A this year so far for the most up to date Ant I virus softwear around, that I have used.

What's your favorite Ant I virus softwear of your choice ?????.

Just an FYI to always keep in mind regarding this and the entire computer realm..hell the entire retail world..this is something that is more "hype" than anything.

Not saying your preferences are wrong at all. You can choose whatever you like and pretty much be ok.

Just remember that about 98% of ALL viruses out there are based on just a few hundred and simply modified in certain ways and they call it a "new virus". So they will "market" like crazy.

years ago we heard rumors of the "Anti-Virus" companies having thier own labs to create new virus threats...hey what a way to keep selling the software!

So just wanted to add, don;t be taken in by a lot of the "marketing hype" in anything these days. Especially in the computer arena. Tons of promises, but few deliver. happy

I have McAfee from my college and well I am none too impressed. My ex visited one weekend and she downloaded a game program while I was out and it opened a big hole for viruses and adware to come on in and make a home. Well McAfee totally missed everything and I do not believe I can completely get all of the crap out!

Sumthingdifferent, probably true.. who knows.

jvc534, wow sorry to hear that, thus far I've my self never had any probelms. You've must of been able to get rid of those virus and other things or you wouldn't be online right now, or am I wrong ?.

franshade, Mcafee is free for me because I am a high speed Internet user.

I don't know to much about AVG, but I have heard lot's of good things about it, just not sure how well it rates up againest the other top name companys.

Well I love AVG, I use it at home and at work. It doesnt take up much room, works silently in the background, doesnt freeze me up like McAfee and Norton did, especially at work, where I have lots of programs open (like JSH) lol.

I know lately one can get Norton free from yahoo and McAfee free too. I just happen to prefer AVG. hey so long as they work lol.

Well I deleted of the viruses with Ad Aware 2007 but when it deletes the ad ware, it manages to come back. Very frustrating.

Man, not saying you are wrong, McAffee is fine. About the rest of what I said.."who knows"?..in this case I do. bigsmile laugh

Been in the business 17+ years, seen and know most of whats going on in computing. Not much on anything else, but won't guide you wrong in this field. bigsmile

the 2 that i have running on my computer are AVG and Avast...the thing i like best about both of them is that they update automatically--AVG you have to schedule it to update on a daily basis, but Avast, does it in the background with no prompting from the user and has a loud alarm if something is coming into the computer so you can decide what you want to do before the file even gets to you.

I have McAfee Firewall,
AVG & Avast
Ad-aware
CCleaner

I went into AVG Control Center last week
& it shows the virus chest not empty.

object name.. unp184273949.tmp
C:\WINDOWS\temp\_avast4_\
trojan horse Generic B.ACFW
11/30/07 11:30pm
84KB
back up copy
noway

So AVG said Avast downloaded a Trojan.

Again, perfect example. You will see that kind of thing happening. Another popular is they will say they found something "a threat" or virus or what not and it really did not...kinda making it look better than the other programs.

If you want real fun, load Norton, McAffee, Avast and AVG (all latest FULL versions) BUT BACK EVERYTHING UP FIRST THAT YOU WANT TO SAVE!!! Because this will soon CRASH your system!

Hey, if I can't just tell people good advise, MAYBE they will learn from first hand experience??? bigsmile laugh

roflmao! sumthingdifferent.

No people dont load all these programs, theres a reason that they are free, they are not compatible with each other, if you have one version, make sure you don't have the others smooched
