I have been sober all twenty-three years of my life and I've had a few drinks in my life but I can never bring myself to like it. I hate the taste of alcohol. On top of that I've seen enough drunk people, heard enough drunk stories, and been to enough funerals. Every now and again I'm confronted by someone whom raves how awesome alcohol is and how awesome it is to be drunk.

What's the point?
What's the purpose?

As I see it alcohol is overrated. A waste of time, money, and life in general.

I second with you on that one, I have been drunk and its just not all its cracked up to be.

I don't much like the taste of it unless the bartender is really good. But I certainly have a lot more interesting stories to tell because of alcohol

I have a cousin who has been drinking whenever he can get his hands on the stuff since he was fifteen ... and I feel for him. But he just won't stop so I've frankly given up trying. -_-;

well for one some alcohol such as red wine can be good for the heart if you drink around a glass a day or every couple days,

some ppl do like the taste of some of it.. not all of it mind you


some ppl do know how to drink reponsibly and do it at home and do not drive while under the influence,


but hey its not for everyone

the point of drinking isn't to see how jacked up you can get. some people actually enjoy the taste of certain drinks, it's a stimulant so it effects how you act. some people loosen up and can have more fun. there really are tons of reasons why people drink.

i drink, i don't say others should but it really depends on the person what effect it has and how able they are to control the not getting drunk.

But unfortunately TOO many people don't understand that life is about moderation.

I've lost people I loved because of alcohol. I drank a little bit between the ages of 19 and 22 but quit a month after my 22nd birthday after reading about what alcohol does to the brain cells.

Haven't touched it since, and I never will again.

One of my 3 non-negotiables in a partner is no alcohol use.

I was on a pay site for 3 months last year, and I was saddened by the number of e-mails I got from local people asking me to meet them at such and such bar. Had they bothered to read my profile, they would have known I don't go to bars, period.

Alcohol can be fun if used in moderation. I have an '8 beer limit'. At that point I feel it but still maintain complete focus and motor skills. I have been as drunk as those people in the stories.....never again.... The fact is that, if used in moderation, alcohol can cause you to loosen up and have lots of fun.

thats the difference between people who use it to have a good time and alcoholics who NEED it to have a normal time

which is good cause i dont wanna be drunk.. i drink to calm my nerves usually only one or two drinks depending on what i'm drinking

Nothing knocks me out faster than an strenuous workout and making myself a little drink. Out cold in 5 minutes!

I use to think the same as you, but now, I guess I am somewhat of a lush... I like to drink now, but I don't drink to get drunk, I just happen to like my beer!
