I'm on Day 8. ohwell

My strategy: Make the decision. Smoke all you got. Prepare supplies. Lock self in room with supplies. Entrust 15 yr old son with key to room and only one week worth of pizza money. You might be able to come out briefly on day 4 or 5 but better have the distributor cap on the truck "misplaced" in case you opt to make a dash for it.

Good luck...you can do it. If you need a list of supplies...you'll have to email me...can't go public with that. laugh laugh laugh laugh

I'll let ya know how leaving the house goes soon. bigsmile

okay well as so mamy have said it is the will power , cold turkey and a reason to focus on helps alot.

I have been there done that and conquered it as well it will be 5 years for me in Jan.bigsmile

For me I was up to 3 packs a day bad chain smoker put one out light up another that was me.

My reason granddaugher was born with a breathing problem on oxygen for a week in the hospital I smoked the day of her birth and layed them down 2 days later cold turkey sorry it is the best way.

Keep your self busy , when you get that craving find something to do with your hands, myself I use to cut straws into 3 pieces used them as a cig when I was driving ect chewed on the straw the motion we get in the habit of moving your hands to put cig in mouth and take out use the straw instead satisfies that motion and helps out a lot. flowerforyou

like most said after 2 weeks you pretty well on the way but.... if you ever pick up one after that most of the time your back full force done that too before but this time I had a good reason.bigsmile

No one to this day smokes in my house due to not going to expose my grandbaby to it. noway

Good luck and stay busy.

Cold Turkey was the only effective way for me to do it, because it was the habitual addiction moreso than a physical addiction. Utilizing a patch would have been pointless, as would the gum, because getting over the addiction to nicotine wasn't the hard part.

I had quit for about 7 months, until my now ex-wife said she wanted a divorce. I went back to smoking for a couple of months, and have now quit again and have been smoke-free for about 3 months.

I quit one time for 6 years...one night I just got an urge for one, and started back up....I know I should not smoke, but I only smoke about a half a pack a day....Years ago it was 2 to 2 and a half packs a day. Good luck to you.

I quit smoking in March 2002 after 20 years of smoking. When I quit I smoked 2 to 3 packs a day(in canada a pack of cigarettes have 25 cigaretes in them) I quit cold turkey. My pastor at the time said a prayer for me to quit and it worked. The first month after I quit I went out on satuyrday nights as I assumed that I'd go back to smoking when drinking vodka and other assortedalcoholic bevereges. I didn't want the cigarettes just wanted more vodka. Thoise sautrday night i got really drunk as the club had special of jugs of any cocktail I drank vodka paralyzers. I stopped drinking heavily in May 2002. Now I just drink occasionally.

I'm really good at quitting, it's the staying a non-smoker that I suck at.
