Bernie Sanders’ pitch for Affordable Education makes good common sense :

Talking on developing the strongest best public school system in the world he says

Schools
Lunch for school children will be subsidized
School Teacher’s minimum salary: $60,000 / year (take care of teachers and ...)
No standardized school tests because … (reasons not so clear)

College
College Tuition: Free for all people
Student Loans: Cancelled
--xx

To achieve these goals he will remove school funding off property taxes and
raise taxes substantially on:
The Wealthy
Wall Street ‘speculation’
Reduce Military Spending

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KHvawAk59xU

--xx

On school education Bernie is 100% right, and the goals achievable

Based on similar situation in India (socialism),

State schools with state syllabus - high teacher absenteeism / student dropouts

Central government (federal) schools - higher syllabus - impersonal teaching

Private schools - less on syllabus and more on personality development

Problem is
How may Bernie achieve this when public schools are under state jurisdiction?

The College Tuition: Free for all people...

they will not allow that ... but reducing the tuition ... I can see...

I know their trying to take $ from public school to help the charters ...

so that is terrible for children ... who can not afford ...

this is good ... To achieve these goals he will remove school funding off property taxes and

The Wealthy
Wall Street ‘speculation’

this would work but that is .....1 reason why the wealthy do not want him as President ...

and the electoral votes as you know... play a large factor in our voting system ... I believe they should get rid of ... or not have so many in one state then another ... 1 should be counted... not 3or4 in one state....

If the Democrats had wanted Bernie Sanders as their candidate, he wouldn't have ended up with a black eye the last time and the Idaho caucus turning out so oddly this time. The only Democrat who polls consistently well is creepy (must he keep sniffing young girls hair?)Joe Biden. Just my opinion.

He is no creepier than what is already there, but he has more experience and more history of trying to SERVE the public.

I agree and he consistently polls higher than the rest of the potential Democrat candidates. Whether he is selected remains to be seen, although he's the only Democrat who seems to have a chance of beating the incumbent President.

He should cancel credit card loans, car loans and house loans too. That way nobody will be responsible or accountable for any of the decisions they make.

Then another super good idea is, to punish all the responsible people that did the right thing and saved money, or worked their ***** off doing 2 and 3 jobs while going to school, as to not accumulate debt. That should teach them that's not how life ought to work. Who do they think they are doing extra work to get ahead? Everybody should get the same - no matter how much effort they put in.

Let's set the bar low, because that's the kinda people we want leading the future generations.

What makes this plan "affordable"? Or employees any kind of "common sense?
Half the students in the USA already receive free or reduced lunches and its not that big of burden to pay for them or just bring something from home.
Teachers work half as many hours as the average American and many do make $60k a year, how about we find more for them to do such as daycare for when the kids aren't in school to make up for some of the extra time?
Standardized test are ment to hold schools accountable to a certain level of teaching, what next? We drop the English requirement because soon we will all be speaking Spanish? Or everyone has a cell phone so we don't need math? The tests are used to compare what areas are doing what.
I know many people with college degrees that do nothing related to what they went to school for, college is not for everybody and giving free tuition would cause many to go even if they have no interest in it just because its "free". Just because something is "free" doesn't mean somebody isn't paying for it.
There are ways to make schools and education better, we've tried throwing money at it and that just caused even more money to be thrown at it with few results.

Without another 4 years of trump, the country couldn't bounce back from a disastrous idea of Bernie running the country into the ground

Rephrasing what you say, "Without a larger wealth base in terms of industry and technologies of the future / steady surplus, military security; it would be difficult to subsidize college - the best in the world"

Naturally Bernie's vote bank cannot see that far.

People like Amy, I like Amy, but what are her ideas?
listened to her for 10 minutes and all I heard was - decency, decency, and more decency.

Free tuition fee for college is not the best, reducing the cost is more realisti. Most of his ideas on education are not achievable.

College loans: Reduce interest, keep it seperate from credit and not present on credit reports.

If not for student loans, I would have perfect credit, because I otherwise pay any bills I have, from rent, to car loan, to utilities. Yet, moving is always a complication because of a credit score tied to student loans. I wonder how many other people in the country would have a real fresh start if they could clear the loans off of their credit scores.

Why should it be treated different than any other debt? It is a commitment of part of your income to a creditor in the same way as your car loan is other than there is nothing that can be repossessed to reduce the debt. If it is a government loan the interest rate should be minimal.

Student loan is qualitatively different in the sense like a company provides training program for employees to enhance their profitability or like upgrading skills of soldiers.

Else why discuss subsidized college fees using taxpayers money if not for nation building. (sorry if I'm ranting but this is because we subsidize education in our top institutes and they go get employed in the USA)

And all Ms. Harmony is suggesting is - Edu loan need not be reflected on credit score. In other words, if I have acquired a PhD and have a loan of $50,000 I would not be able to afford a car while a mechanic who has no loan, would.

Here ya goflowerforyou after reviewing I still like her best...

None of them do I agree with 100% of polices but she is closest to what I would like. One thing I like she's for NOT wanting free healthcare, that is my preferred.

There is an assumption that when you increase your skill set through education your income will also improve thus providing you additional funds to reduce your student debt and maintain a good credit score. A 50k student loan and a 100k income should be compatible. Most of the people with problem student debt are those who did not finish their education or who completed an education that had no employment value. I call them an advanced basket weaving education for no employer will pay you for those skills!! I would never support "free" college but could support a reimbursement program where your tuition and books were reimbursed to you when you successfully complete a quarter or semester.

Because it is very different. The amount of years and the interest rate are based on a perceived return, a career earning money that makes the payments affordable. Most are not getting careers in their degrees. And a student loan, which is often deferred for a much later time, is also different than normal bills that are being paid AS they are being used.

Student loans tell very little about whether a person will pay their rent or their car note or their utilities. Since many of these places use that score to qualify people, I feel the student loan should not be a part of that consideration of whether someone has or will pay ongoing, pay as you use, bills for rent or other services.

This would be a solution because people will still be held responsible, but these high interest loans will not have the same weight to be able to interfere with any and all of the other things they ARE able and likely to be responsible for.
