I know its not 1995 and I was agreeing with NotLooking.
I was specific to M2 and its messaging system which is based on email not chat.
I know there are other sites offering real-time chat but M2 does not.
Last I looked, this is M2.

I know about Telnet, its similar to Usenet if you tilt yer head just so.
I belong to many forums on a wide range of subjects (not just dating) and many do offer a chatbox. M2 probably has the most restricted forum software I've encountered in the last 15 years. Most have a WYSIWYG editor. My own forum has a chatbox with a limited editor. The technology exists, M2 chooses not to enable it. Its their website, their choice.

Its all about common courtesy and respect. If you ghost me during a personal discussion, that's rude and I have no need for you in my life. As far as I'm concerned we're done. Its like hanging up the phone on someone.

If you're having a conversation and they use full sentences and punctuation then they stop responding mid-discussion, chances are something went wrong, like a dropped call. But if they finish their sentence and just 'hang up' it sends a clear message.

Just because YOU have a fast connection and current equipment does not mean THEY do. Just because YOU know how to use the software doesn't mean THEY do.
But, the underlying issue is courtesy and respect. Since many people are limited in that department, its easy to assume the worst.

Why spend your time and energy on a dead end?
If you can never go out with me because something takes all your time or something always comes up, you are not in a position to date in the first place.
When I had spotty internet service, I always said up front "I may not have a connection so if I ghost you, It wasn't my intent". Common courtesy and respect.
