This is a triggering poem. Poetry is an expression when those in need have no words, but need to find they are not alone. I hope you find this in the years to follow my loves xxx

<♡> Black <♡>

December. I will see his face after forty eight years.
He will wear a glowing, saviour halo
and say things like, "I loved those girls like a father."
Masked in distressed, victim persona,
acting as if he was born for an Oscar,
his throat will not vomit the dark snakes
nesting in him, but his forked tongue
will serve him well.

In the Courtroom I will hold my sister's hands,
praying she will not black out, as she does
when triggered by monsters in the flesh,
or memories of their gigantic fingers
and lips hurting her eight year old trust.

I asked her what she sees when she blacks out?
She tells me purple roses sometimes appear.
I tell her it is because she is a Queen -
Royal roses for her courage and suffering.

He knows we three tell the truth
about his destructive, predatory bedroom deeds.
Will he stare straight ahead in Court,
or will he find the shamelessness to look our way
and see the purple rose garlands crowning our heads?
