Chippewa Falls has approximately 14,600+ people in the city limits and probably half again that many in the surrounding nearby area - excluding Eau Claire & other towns & cities nearby.
The M<->F ratio is slightly male-skewed (100.3 men to 100 women). Ergo; there are likely some 10,000 or so wimmins in the immediate Chippewa Falls area. Including Eau Claire (12 miles), that population figure shoots up another 70,000-80,000 or so & dumps another 35,000-40,000+/- into the fishing pool. How many are seeking someone is up in the air & exactly indeterminable at any given moment. Given my own knowledge of the area, the number found on a site like Mingle2 are probably significantly lower than more urban areas in the southern part of the state. From what I've gathered from the many people I know in that area, on-line dating is not really a big thingy there. The communities are small enough that people know a lot about who is "available", who isn't, & where to go if you are looking or want to be found - thus no need for an "app" to find them. Using the search function here, set to a 50 mile radius around Chippewa Falls and ages 21-77 inclusive, only 34 candidates show up, almost all in their 30s or 40s, 2 in their 20s, & 1 over 50. A similar search around La Crosse (pop.50k+) turns up 89, with ages skewing more heavily toward wimmins in their 40s. About what you'd expect for 2X the population & still in the "small town" bracket regarding knowing many of the people in your city. Where what I'm saying shows up is if you search Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, a city of similar size to Chippewa Falls in the southern part of the state, using the same parameters - you get a return of 304 candidates with a much flatter spread out age distribution. 10 TIMES as many down south for the same population size - in part because of the nearness of Milwaukee and Madison commuters & a much denser population in-fill coupled with a different sort of "vibe" in how people approach dating. Getting your Hoover wand dusted down here is FAR easier than "Up Nort" - even if yours is a Dirt Devil or Eureka model. According to my youngest son (45) when he was up in Eau Claire a month ago his FaceBook dating app popped 20 looking for a hookup right away, so FaceBook might be an exception to what I've been saying & possibly only is so for hookups and not those seeking a longer-term relationship. |

With a post that only includes a heart and a tongue, I don't think the dude is looking for statistics on ratios of men to women in the area.

With a post that only includes a heart and a tongue, I don't think the dude is looking for statistics on ratios of men to women in the area. I take things I read quite literally, mo, & try not to read in anything built on unwarranted assumptions. A weakness in conversation when so much of common culture is built upon just those sorts of context & baggage tacked on to the common phrases we use, I know. I was just born that way & why my late wife had to spend a half-century of her life trying to "normalize" me. Obviously she ran out of time before she could quite complete the job but we still have to give her a hard-earned "A" for her perseverance and tireless efforts.
