Have you thought about relocating? I am meeting some really neat ladies on the site, most have their roots, family, friends, and careers where they are living now. I cant move from my farm for at least ten more years(early retirement) and it seems so risky for someone else to move across the country or planet in hopes that things will work out. what do you think?

That's why I am only really looking into people who live locally. Unfortunately, the internet crosses much wider gaps than most people are able to physically.

I would'nt advise it...just ask my ex, he moved all the way from Texas to Spain to be with some one he never even met in real life...now he calls saying he don't like it there, lol.

Relocation is an option.....but ya cant plunge in......need a few visits....lots of connection.
If all goes right........I'd move anywhere.
Home is where the heart is!!

Yea there is no option for me I've started a nice little farm here on my property and the place has been passed down through generations. I would however welcome the right lady with open arms.

For me relocation is not a problem, since I am planning on moving this summer.

If you truly love each other, one of you will be willing to relocate. Once you do the relocation its up to the two of you to communicate, show caring, and work on making things work

Nothing that is worthwhile in life whether it be a matter of the heart or something else comes easy:smile:

So true but before I did just jumped up and move yeah I would have to spend some time back and forth one just never knows I only knew my ex for about 2 months before we were married and it lasted 11 years and 2 beautiful children later. So to me it is a feeling one has. Would I move if the connection was there yeah I would now for my children are grown and living there own lives. So now it is time for me to find what makes me happy for a change. I gave my kids 16 years of my life while raising them and did not remarry or have anyone live with me. So ya they understand and want to see me happy.bigsmile

I did it. Moved from Kentucky to Tulsa 9 years ago after a year long LDR. It ended 10 months later. We both found you really don't get to know the real person doing the weekend romance thing.

I have relocated to different states twice so far - - for my career. My company keeps paying for relo and offers promotions. If you work for a large enough company you can keep your options open.

People will have different answers. For me, I am not going to consider a serious relationship with anyone outside of the Tulsa area. I'm not moving again and would be afraid for someone else to move here.

I would be willing to. If I really clicked with the person. And yes, LDR's are extremely hard. I also agree that it's very hard to get to know enough about someone just on your off time.

jeffish.....

Relocating is a big step for anyone. As you point out, if one moves to another area to take a chance on someone they have met on a dating site, that person is giving up family, friends, career/job, and home. My mother has a saying, "If you have to give up too much for something, it isn't worth it."

Do not move from your farm and lose out on your early retirement. You are correct in that it is risky to leave everything behind in the hope that all will work out. Let's be reasonable, if you cannot find someone in your own area, you sure as heck are not going to find someone far away.

BUT -- BUT -- and this is a big but -- if one has no family and/or ties and no real career, why not? Take a chance.

For real love, a person will go to the devil & back, without a thought. Problem seems to be folks jump to quick & then wonder why it didn't work. Gwen & I were friends for 2-3 yrs. before we got serious & then went thru the hell of divorces, (mine was really nasty) just to be together. It was worth every bit, but we put a lot of thought & work into the decision.

Rules for relationships: go slow, be friends first, work EVERYDAY to EARN eachothers love & respect.
DO that & you will be surprised at the results.
