I am totally confused about the current voting going on .... caucus ...... primary . I don't understand . I don't recall being taught this process in school . Maybe I forgot . Can someone explain it to me ?
Why is it called a caucus in some states and a primary in others ? What is the difference ? Who is in the race for president at this point ? Don't tell me to google . I am asking you ... if you don't want to answer then don't . Thanks in advance ! |

As quoted from some random page on the subject...
Caucus: "a private meeting of members of a political party to plan action or to select delegates for a nominating convention." Primary: "[an] election held to nominate a candidate for a particular party at a forthcoming election for public office." In addition to these pledged delegates, the Democratic Party also has unpledged delegates or superdelegates who comprise 15% of the total delegate pool. These superdelegates are high-ranking party and elected officials such as governors, congressional representatives, and DNC members. They may vote to nominate any candidate they choose and are not bound by the state's popular vote. Primaries and caucuses allow the average citizen to have a hand in determining the party's nominee and in influencing the party's platform. Finally, these early elections encourage candidates to campaign in more locales, which provide more opportunities for them to really hear the concerns of citizens nationwide. In so far as the candidates.... The site I often refer to which is a pretty unbiased source of info in my opinion is: http://votesmart.com/ However.. it seems to be off line for maintenance right now. |
