You had a friend that calls you all the time and everytime they call you, the first words out of their mouth is about how bad their day is going. They don't say hello or anything, they just say something to the effect of "My life sucks."
I dont allow those type of people in my life anymore. They are rotten minded people. They refuse to make life easy for themselves. If they had better attitudes they would have better lives. If they made better choices they would have better lives. I you made the choice not to andwer the phone they would have to find someone else to ***** at.

Yea I agree, but the problem is, I can't just let my phone ring and ring. I have an emergency alert system in case I fall or something and it is connected to my phone. If my phone rings for more than 30 seconds then it connects to the alarm company and they send someone out to check on me. The best I can do is just hang up but I just can't do that.

Hook a clapper to it this way if you fall you can clap the phone on.

Hi Suzanne and everyone else. I guess it would depend on how good a friend he is. How well you know him and so on. If you REALLY know him, then you should make him listen to you. Just flat out tell him how you feel. If he doesn't like it and accept your feelings then, oh well. He needs to know how you feel. It's sad that his life is so messed up, but, YOURS isn't. I have never had a friend be like that with me before, so I really don't know how I would handle it, except, I would definatly tell him/her how I felt. OK?? Well, this is just my 2 cents worth. LOl

Yeah, I've been a victim of these types of calls. It seems the only time they call is to release all the bad crap. Then I was left with that "heavy" feeling. It really sucked because if I had a lousy day too, I didn't want to lay it on THEM after hearing about their day.
Oh, and then if I tried to interject to be part of the conversation, and share something that was going on with me...somehow they'd turn it back to themselves and made my experience sound silly because "theirs was so much worse." Has that happened to you, too?
I have friends that keep making the same bad choices over and over again and never fail to complain about it. I've learned to just not care, unfortunately. I just half-listen because it's always the same old thing. Now my response is: "Honey, I can't care more about you than you care about yourself."

tell them like it is I am sorry your life sucks but your making mine even worse  with these phone callssick

no seriously try and let them know what they need to do to change their situation and go the steps to make their own life better
but if they are driving you crazy with these my life sucks speeches day after day then let them know in some sort of a nice way.
maybe let then know you are not going to listen to the bad stuff any more until they think of one good thing that happened in their day see if that helps
and good luck

Yea that is EXACTLY how he is. I can't get 2 words in edgewise. I think I am just going to have to try to explain to him the problem and stop talking with him until he gets it.

There are people that share their light and there are those who just seem to suck the "light" out of us. I DID finally tell my one friend that she was draining me with her negativity. And I DID have to stop talking to her for awhile. We're better now that she got the message. Hope it works for you. Just be honest and ask him: "Does bringing me down somehow improve your sucky day? Because if it does, you're not really my friend."
