why do women like to do close-ups of lips?

so this is a networking website... to find friends and date...

that means you should fill out your profile and post flattering, but realistic/accurate photos of yourself.

i dont know about you.. but if a guy with no pic sends me a message and wants to meet for coffee... im not going to go see a guy that i cant give a once-over first. i want to be able to see if he looks crazy or 20 years older or not.

sorry for my rant.. it seems like more people would be successful if things were done correctly

I guess i did it all wrong again

It's a recent phenomenon here, and if I'm correct, it's for valentine's day purposes...I wouldn't expect it to last after today.

Although there are a lot of other inanimate pictures up all the time and that irks me.

I posted the lip pic as an experiment. I do have real pics but you have to be my friend to see them. I am mostly here for friends anyway. Besides I think the fake pics tells us something about the persons personality.

The "lips" usually represent "sensuality". However, you could post a picture of an ardvark, as long as it says "female" in the title, many men will respond. many men have two requirements for a date..its female and its breathing.

Basically guys are PIGS..like this is something new??? And the women enjoy "toying" with the guys because of that reason.

Its just a male/female game that has been going on forever and will probably always continue.

So don't read too much into it.

not only that..whats good about having lip pic is the guys love it but also they have to check you out to see who those lips belong too

lol, I may be young but I am not stupid. I know what lips symbolizes. It just seems cheesy and predictable... everyone's got lips, so why is it so special? You can load 'em up with lip gloss and photo edit them all you want.. they are all the same.

That's a good question. A few people have been doing that as long as I've been here. Just recently, it's turned into a sort of epidemic. Kind of a cliche at this point. A "jump on the bandwagon" thing that got out of control, as these things often do. It's harmless, but it certainly is no longer original.



Well, you'll have a hard time getting a consensus on that. A lot of us would agree, but many never post a pic at all; others post pics of cats, cars, birds, signs, whatever, anything BUT themselves. It's an individual thing. Some people aren't comfortable being "out there" and I can understand that. Does it mean they're hiding something? Sure, some are -- maybe they're married and don't want anyone to know they're trolling a dating site for new prospects. Certainly, not everyone without a picture is doing that, though.

As for profiles -- well, I can't speak for anyone else's experience, but about 90% of the ones I've read here are either empty or might as well be.



Well, the real issue is that some people define "correctly" a little differently. I personally agree with you -- I think some people would be more successful if they were more forthcoming with pics, and with better (more complete and more honest) profiles -- but you can't force them.

I've often heard the line "You get out of it what you put into it," regarding the whole internet dating thing -- and I can testify that there are certain cases where this is absolutely untrue -- but it may hold up, in the main, as a very general guideline....
