Spend 8 years at a job that I loved when I started and that I hated when I left. The work itself I still loved. The conditions changed so much that in the last three years I developed stress induced high blood pressure and had to go on meds for anxiety disorder. I decided that making great money wasn't worth killing myself over and I am making less than half what I was making before. So I'm restructuring and trying to get out of my house and back into an apartment. Sometimes you have to do what you have to do to be sane and stay healthy. Don't let it make you so miserable that it destroys your health. That won't help you or your child.

PS, even if he doesn't have numbers on the checks, the numbers should be on file with the state and you ought to still be able to get unemployment if you were to get fired.

I have been with my company for 8 yrs and since the new owner took over ,it has been a living h*ll..we found out yesterday that we have no i.d. #'s on our paycheck stubs...so if the business folds we can't collect unemployment. Today I was asked to fill in for an absent employee and do her job ( no problem....I've done it many times) but I was constantly put down that I wasn't doing it correctly and told that I could be replaced for less money as the company is struggling. I did kinda flip out on my boss at that point and told him I was leaving. He told me I was uncool (lol) and to go and then yelled ...see ya tommarrow! So I left. He will be screwed if he fires me but ,I can't work with him anymore. But it seems I am up the creek with no paddle here if I leave. Any opinions? I don't know what to do.

I had this experience 5 years ago. I wonder if the new owner's intentions are to "milk" the business of all of it's cash flow and deliberately close it down in the very near future?

All these elements you are now mentioning would be an indicator for me to start looking for a better employer. It's a tough thing, depending upon your current economic situation. But believe me, when you do succeed in landing a better job, there's no better feeling in the world. You'll be on Cloud 9. You can do it!

I totally agree. Back then, a good-sized portion of my paycheck was going to pay off my credit card debt. I wiped the slate clean and filed for Chapter 7. I'm a more responsible spender now and I have money in the bank and I was able to experience all kinds of other work until I finally settled into my current occupation.

I don't really care if my credit rating goes down the tubes for the next 10 years either, because I don't ever plan own a credit card ever again.

I hear what you guys are saying...I am gonna start looking..it is so hard to even find the time to do that . Cause I am a 9-5'er and that don't leave much time to go apply or even call places.

Yeah. There's some great advice. I'm sure the guys living under the nearest overpass thought the same thing.

Nobody will do for you better than YOU can do for you. Period. You are currently employed but your boss sounds like a weasel. Take your time and plot out your job search. It can be done even on the tightest of time schedules. Do not jump at the first offer either. It's all about timing.

Timing....life revolves around timing.

Shadowlands..how right you are!
I've burried the hatchet for now.... and I have learned that I am replace-able. So, as I bite my tongue and stay in check I can pay my bills and support my kids.I am stashing away as much money as I can for that rainy day also keeping my eyes open for something better! flowerforyou

makes alot of sense..but with the BBB you can't be anonymous, and I am still working there. Someone did make some ripples and suddenly they came up with a whole new business name and said there will be an employee # on our checks for now on. huh
