Yesterday we had some bad winds in delaware, long story short a window blew out in my carport and dented my tanksad ...My question is, how much is it to repair or replace the gas tank and well my insurance pay for it?

I'd check with your homeowners or renters insurance first... they might be responsible for it. It also depends a lot on the deductible that you have... depending on how high it is, it may not be worth sending it in for a claim. Good luck

seems like your insurance would, home owners or motorcycle, freak things happen, I would fix it for you for free, but your 23456789 miles away, so I would go with your insurance.

Not knowing the extent of the damage, you might try dry ice. That or a rubber coated shaft and tap inside to out(seen it dune on a bikes at shop where Brother works)

Take it in and get some estenmts on it and one other thing I didnt think of,if its not a creass dent you might be able to get a suction cup type of dent puller and pop it out with that.good luck to you thoughflowerforyou

its about a inch long on the side of the tank close to the bottom....Im not going to try it myself, Im sure I would mess it up big time lol, I'd rather leave it up to the professionals...Im just wondering how much is this going to set me backmad

if they dont have to replace your tank and can pop it out with ice, rubber shaft,or cup, bike shops around here usualy charge an hourly rate with 2 hour min.(about 25 an hour around here)even if it only takes 5 minites.Changing out tanks and paint will run a hole lot more, take it and get some estaments.Couldnt tell by pictures if you had any graffics in the paint but its nice looking.Good luck to you though.drinker flowerforyou

$615.00 to fix a tank? damn deduct the 250.00 from what the insurance co gives you and find someone who will fix it for closer to 400.00. A tank does not require that much work. get a second estimate. you can get it fixed for less.

no, but there is some people that will fix it cheapier ! tnak's are that much and they dont take a whole lot of paint unless it's a custom paint job ?

dam I wish you guys would have posted this earlier, Im having the work done as we speakfrown Its gettin done at the dealer thats why it probably a high estimate....I looked on line and for my bike they said the tank was around $500 so I didnt think $615 was far off *shrugs*

that would explain why it cost so much, next time check with a body shop. a small dent could be fixed, then they now have paintless dent repair and can pull it out without having to repaint unless it was scratched, then you would only need a quart of paint for a tank. this dealer saw you coming

yeah I know I could of got it remove and I would have if I had to pay for it out of my pocket ( which I am in a way) but since insurance was paying for it I thought getting the new tank was a better because my bike is only 6 months old. I guess if the tank was $500(checked online) they are charging me $115 to put it on and for peace of mine with the dealer it worth it...I been burned by to many mom and pop store in the past, I've notice with them that if the jobs not done right its hard to get result and with the dealer Ive never experienced that so the extra is worth it for my peace of mind, anyway thank for the insight, I will keep that in mind if I ever find myself in this situation again(hopefully I wont) Peace and love to you!flowerforyou
