But, I just got my name changed back to my maiden name. All of my friends could never remember my married last name anyhow, so they always called me by my maiden name anyhow.flowerforyou

If I were to get married again, I don't know if I would change it, cause my son has my name.flowerforyou

I think when you get married, you should take your husband's last name. What is the point in getting married if you don't even want his last name?

Maybe cause you love him, but his last name sucks?

Yeah like suppose her name is Candy and his last name is Cain

or Pants?

After divorce you have alot less income so you dont worry about paying taxes and owning any property. I hate to sound bitter but walk in my shoes and you will feel the pain. a marriage contract is one you should think alot about before getting into one. like they say till dead do you part and they really mean that you will be paying your x for the rest of your life. you young guys really need to think about what your getting into before getting married.

getting lots of dates on here? Wait, I hear them lining up.

things happen fast, Jist.It was while you were on your mass posting frenzy.

Well it is kinda hard to do a pecker impression and actually listen to what is going on anywhere else. The two don't lend well to eachother! Cut me some slack!

Oh God don't get me started on that again. I just now got over the sickness lol.

My point being... How would you know anything about marriage that isn't second hand?

where i used to work, this lady just got married, and they invited me to go for a drink with them, he followed me to the toilets and tried to kiss me, i mean wtf?? i didnt have the heart to tell her. plus everyone i know is divorced or going through one, and its a hell of a process. ive always said i want to get married but i think its easier to just live together with no paper work involved.

I like the idea of marriage and what it represents... the union of two lives and a committment. The ultimate promise But the ownership stuff? Nope.

Wedding showers are a leftover from the dowry. It's why the men don't have to go.

no havent got any dates but have talked to a few and they were just looking for someone to spend money on them. believe me when i tell you I believe in love and romance but marriage doesnt support that over many long years. your lucky you dont kill each other.

I like your humor ;-)

How do you feel about a woman keeping her maiden name after marriage? Why?
The same way i would feel if i paid cash for a car, and the dealer kept the title.

Fine by me. Some men get weird about accidently being called by the wife's name though. But I'm from a Norwegien line. And the first name change in it was when a man married into a family and he took his wife's family name. The name went from a Bj______ to Helseterstead. From what I've learned, it was common it a man married into a family rather than the woman marrying into his family.

Just comes down to cultural differences.

At first I was upset, then it made sense

She kept it so my daughter wasnt confused why Mommy had a different last name

that's part of why i kept mine.

i've had this last name for all of my adult life...i was married at the age of 20. it's now ME, it's part of the WHO of me...and i'll never go back.

i'll also never change it again, even if i WERE to remarry.
