My best friend is college was going to the bathroom everytime we went out for dinner. She was very cute, bubbly, fun to be around. I never suspected that she had a problem and we were always together. She was thin but not awfully skinny. I was skinner than her.

When she got married, she confided to me about her problem because it was affecting her trying to get pregnant. She wasn't having periods in her early 20's. Then her teeth were getting bad from the vomitting. Her husband didn't even know she was doing it. She got better and finally had her babies.

She is from a very large good looking family. She confessed to me that her sisters were prettier than her and she always felt like she had to be thin to even come near their prettiness.
That's how she got started - jealousy of her sisters.

And all those years she always looked beautiful to me. She had a natural glowing beauty about her.

Best advice here...show them what happens if they continue the road they selected, horrible but it can be a wakeup call to some...only way I've seen work other than a silly intervention, which in itself can only work if someone truly wants help...silly humans.

I am sorry, I never meant my post to be taken that all people suffering from anorexia or bulemia are only looking for attention, my girlfriend told me that was the case in her instance, that that was the one time she got attention from her parents.

I know there are cases out there that the people cannot control, there are people dying of the diseases daily, if they only wanted attention, they would stop before they died. People with the severest forms of the disease need intense therapy and usually inpatient therapy.

If you are suffering from any eating disorder, I hope you go for help, either individual or group therapy so that you can get some help with your illness and feel better about yourself and live a healthy life.
Take care.

Oh I didn't take it to mean that at all! I was just refering to my own sister. But like I said, even if it starts out like that, I would imagine it could snowball...

I agree, some people start out thinking they can lose some weight quickly and then get trapped into the cycle and can't find their way out.

sorry...fell asleep and missed everything

Everyone has great input...ty

I think some do it for attention. Can't say they don't have the disorder because of that so I don't know

I know fo the most part those with them don't want the attention. They keep it secret because they don't want others to take that control from them. It's their only control in a life that seems to be out of control for them.

whether it's for attention or something else....it has deeper issues. Most of the time it's not about weight. If you dig deeper...it's because of how they feel about themselves and the need to feel good. And what causes that feeling
