i have paypal and yes you can spot scam in sec if there is one. you would know if it came directly from them, as they would use your name.. i had a bogus email from them the other day and it was spanish and i thought it was funny

how does it work if you dont have a account through them and you want to use it you have to use a credit card...i think a debt might work as well.. you can sign up for one if you have a bank account...

No I posted something on craig's list and the person wants to pay by paypal and is insistent that I delete my ad on craig's list and give them my paypal id to post the payment.

don't know yet. but i asked them where they wanted me to ship it and I haven't gotten a response yet.

But they have tried to add me on yahoo messagener as a friend two times now and I have denied it. I have a feeling this person is a scam.

Why should you bother to set up a PayPal account to accommodate this person??? On top of the inconvenience to you to set it all up and having to fork over credit card and bank info to PayPal, you will be charged a fee by PayPal for the transaction. If this person is so hot to trot on the item you are selling, they can send certified funds to you and you can wait til they clear, then mail.

I actually use it all the time to receive my child support... he sends it to my account, I have up to $500 a month I can get receive without paying a fee. He sends it, as soon as it clears, I transfer it to my bank account direct deposit. It takes almost a week for the the whole transaction to finish, but it's free. I've never had a scamming problem.

tell them you will temporarily remove it the ad pending payment of the item. You can give them your paypal ID, and it should tell you immediatly once they have sent you a payment. Once it CLEARS, then you have your money. You can directly transfer it to your bank account.

Only problem I had with security for paypal was when I filled out a phishing form with my password, but realized it and changed the password about 3 minutes later. Also sent Paypal a head's up.
