Being that this website caters to people who are all over the globe and who are as young as 18, it is possible that some members here are lovers of cartoons or anime.

So, speak out if you are one of them. Also, state what cartoons are your favorites.

* * * * *

Question #1: Do you think that it would be possible to make a live-action version of your favorite cartoon with its main characters accurately portrayed by live actors?

Question #2: Do the live-action versions of cartoons already in existence contain live-action performances that accurately portray the characters?

* * * * * *

A list of cartoons that have been turned into live-action shows is at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_live-action_films_based_on_cartoons_and_comics

Answer 1 YES

Answer 2 THE SCCOBIE DOO MOVIE! It was not "Perfectly" on the money but it was close enough to plausibly pass.

Another noteworthy decent adaptation was the Tick Movie based on the cartoon The Tick!

Most efforts are complete crap though. Some come close. And others really land on the field properly!

Surprisingly most of the Marvel movies as well were really true to the original flavor of the comics. the Avengers movie actually surprised me that it was really true to the comic book.

Examples of total out and out suckfests...

ALL THREE OF THE FIRST BATMAN MOVIES! Hands down SUCKFEST. Jim Carry was a lame LAME Riddler. Max Headroom would have been better. Roddy McDowell would have been a much better choice. And Jack Nicholson as the Joker? I wanted to beat him with a baseball bat after seeing that movie! Jack Nicholson as the Joker? NO FUCQING WAY IN THIS LIFETIME OR ANOTHER! BOOOOOOOOOOO JACK NICHOLSON!

Another lame adaptation was the first Taiwanese Dragonball movie. Granted they came close with Master Roshi but as far as the rest of the cast went and the effects, I gave it heart points and camp points so it wasn't an intentional pile of steaming crap like the first three Batman movies.

The successful conversion of a cartoon to live-action depends on the visual/vocal presentation of the main characters, as well as the warmth displayed by the characters. By "warmth" I mean the elements of a character's personality that make the character lovable.

Regarding the Scooby-Doo! movie, its visual presentation of the main human characters is quite good from my perspective.

Compare the animated characters to the live-action characters:

The four actors selected to play the main parts (Freddie Prinze, Jr. as Fred; Sarah Michelle Gellar as Daphne; Matthew Lillard as Shaggy; Linda Cardellini as Velma) were probably the best visual choices for their characters at the time that the Scooby-Doo! movie was made.

However, the ability of the actors to bring warmth to their characters was somewhat flawed. Prinze, Gellar and Lillard made their characters lovable, while Cardellini's version of Velma was somewhat annoying and a bit too full of pride.

Linda Cardellini as Velma Dinkley

The opposite situation occurs in the Scooby-Doo! prequels that Warner Bros. made for the Cartoon Network.

In them, the role of Velma is played by Hayley Kiyoko

Hayley Kiyoko as Velma Dinkley

Kiyoko's version of Velma is much more nerdy, vulnerable and socially awkward, as well as much cuter. Kiyoko's Velma is someone who reminds you of a kid sister, someone you'd cry about if she were to go over a cliff. Cardellini's Velma is someone you'd wouldn't really miss if she went over a cliff.

In short, Kiyoko's Velma is lovable. Cardellini's Velma is not.

People would still try to look up her dress as she went over the cliff anyways!

I see you forgot the 4th one (lucky you) with Poison Ivy, a mentally challenged Bane, and oh yeah, Arnold Schwarzenegger as Mr. Freeze.

INDEED! I wanted to forget that ultra suckfest too! You want to talk about MASSIVE miscasting? Dr. Freeze was not a big man or German. And the broad who played Poison ivy murdered the character herself!

Why do you say that? Does Uma Thurman not have big enough buds to portray Poison Ivy?

You can look if you want, but I'm not.

You cannot un-see what you have seen.
So, I'm not taking a chance.
If Velma Dinkley is actually Justin Bieber in drag, then . . . ill

I was horrified by this information as well. If they pull this one off convincingly I will have to check to see if hell froze over.

Deadpool

Why the hell has this movie not happened? It would be the most successful Marvel movie ever with women. Ryan Reynolds = sold out box office.

I do find some cartoon turned movies cool but i definately would love to see "BATMAN FUTURE" kept on the cartoons all the time.
