What Went Wrong?

Been chatting to a man on another site. He had a lot in common and got on really well. We swapped phone numbers and conversation flowed. We decided to meet. We didn't gel :( We have everything in common, some of which is really uncanny. He was really keen to start a relationship. I felt he was moving too fast. The other mistake I made was meeting him at his house (I know, not the safest thing in the world), the reason for this is we both play the same musical instrument so had a bit of a jam session which was the best part of the "date". Unfortunately, after a couple of hours I started to feel quite unwell and cut short the meeting as I had a long drive home. He was not happy that I left and made that clear. He seemed quite hurt. I have not heard from him since, nor have I contacted him. My phone did ring last evening and it was a withheld number. I know everyone who's got my number and I think it may have been him but whoever it was didn't say anything and hung up. Could easily have been a wrong number. He did tell me he was the type who wore his heart on his sleeve (he does) and had been hurt in the past. What gets me is how can two people who have so much in common just not gel when it comes to meeting. I'm the type of person who really needs to get to know a person before I can take that relationship further and I did tell him this on more than one occasion in the course of conversations before we met. It seems a shame because we had the basis for a very good relationship and him trying to rush things scared me off. He wanted us to enter a full-on, committed relationship there and then. I'm a bit more cautious and wanted to be friends first and see how things progressed. I'm also a widow. He is a divorcee and has been living alone for many years. We're both in our 50s so not exactly spring chickens! its called pressure,, just like skilled performers can still have a bad performance now and again sometimes chemistry isnt as instant as we are expecting it to be,,,, good luck,,, |

I didn't know abortions for gender reasons were actually illegal? What are the arguments against it? Why should the woman be denied the right to control over her body for some issues but not for others? (Tho maybe I'm missing something here) Amendment of law relating to termination of pregnancy.(1)For paragraphs (a) and (b) of section 1(1) of the M1Abortion Act 1967 (grounds for medical termination of pregnancy) there is substituted— “(a)that the pregnancy has not exceeded its twenty-fourth week and that the continuance of the pregnancy would involve risk, greater than if the pregnancy were terminated, of injury to the physical or mental health of the pregnant woman or any existing children of her family; or (b)that the termination is necessary to prevent grave permanent injury to the physical or mental health of the pregnant woman; or (c)that the continuance of the pregnancy would involve risk to the life of the pregnant woman, greater than if the pregnancy were terminated; or (d)that there is a substantial risk that if the child were born it would suffer from such physical or mental abnormalities as to be seriously handicapped.” http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1990/37/section/37/ Apparently these 4 sections are the only legal reasons for an abortion to be performed.. Anything else is illegal.. injury to mental health could be valid here,, think of the 'look how many unwanted children are here',,argument to some , its better to kill,, Im sorry, abort it,,,than let it become an unwanted child,,,, |

(Tho maybe I'm missing something here) good point it seems deplorable to me, but if the legal argument for abortion is that its a 'womans body', what difference does something like gender matter in something that is just a piece of her and not valid on its own.... (according to that particular philosophy) |

Is "Free Will" a sin?
|
|
Free will is choice, period. No if's an's or but's about it. Free will means you can make a choice. The reaction and or consequence of the action has no merit on weather it's free will or not, for you still had the choice. You have the choice to obey God, or not. You are not an automatically programmed robot or puppet on a string. YOU choose, no one else. it also refers to an old protestant doctrine of predestination (in a technical sense) meaning that God has predestined out soul to enter heaven or hell rather than our free will allow us to mold our karma or destiny for the after life I am not a protestant and predestination always seems a little silly to me (I mean why strive to live in a way that pleases the Christ if your soul is predestined...just party and lie all the time - goina heaven anyway ![]() there are a couple understandings of what 'predestination' is, although the word itself is not biblical I think it is actually a word used by Milton in Paradise Lost, but I am not positive of that in any case, I have attended many christian churches, different nominations, including protestant,,,,my understanding and teaching was always that God KNOWS,, not that he causes in laymans terms, its like he is the ULTIMATE PSYCHIC, so that he knows that some will accept CHRIST, although he doesnt force them to, likewise he knows beforehand some who will NOT accept Christ, even though he has not/will not force their decision either,,, |

It's a free country and once you start to tell one group of people that they can't it's just a matter of time before you can't. true as well though not so much an issue for those who dont think its the right thing deciding to change the american landscape so that african americans coud no longer be treated as chattel(less than a human being),,, may have not been such a bad thing ,,,,,, |

Yesterday, I saw this truck parked downtown. It's about abortion. http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t401/justtheforums/432223_10151313462425015_607425014_22886851_1864125015_n.jpg Not sure of the rules here for the kind of pictures that can be posted, but just click the link and check it out. It's a bit graphic. Do you think this type of thing is appropriate for a downtown area, where there may be children that can see it? If you have a child, would you want some completely random stranger telling your child about abortion and what it may look like (even if the photo is probably photoshopped)? Also, do you think this kind of shock tactic actually works? I don't believe it will change anyone's mind. too far in a public place where children might see,,,definitely works on those who may be on the fence about the subject, but probably not for those who are already convinced that the 'fetus' isnt a human being or for those already convinced that it is,,,, |

and in spite of all that,,,, I STILL do not want a society where any citizen with a gun can hold up and DETAIN someone they suspect of a crime it sets a dangerous and WRECKLESS precedent it may be a criminal they successfully detain, but it MAY BE one who is better at killing than they are and who decides to do that when confronted or it MAY BE someone who is not armed and who ends up being SHOT by a nervous citizen who decided to confront them and point a gun its not a precedent I wish to be upheld or encouraged,,, We agree. :) But this guy was armed to the teeth for the apocalypse. I'm pretty sure its safe to say.. ..that wasn't the case here. :P ok, the OP didnt include anything about weapons or arrest for possession though,,, if he was armed, it was a really stupid thing to do, to confront him, unless the burglar actually CAME IN THE MANS direction,,,,, |

This guy defends his home without causing harm to anyone (even the invader) and is charged, has all of his defensive firearms taken and the government official is going to "look into" the appropriateness of the charge. Its **** like this . . . how was it defending his home if the guy was not even on his property? I doubt with his previous non record and age that he will be convicted of anything,, but it was reckless the 'proper' thing is to call the police and have a description of whom he saw leaving the neighbors, NOT to confront him with a weapon,,,, ..you would say that. The part they left out was how long it took the cops to show up. It was probably dark on top of it. So, in court, it would have been his word versus.. ..who? Oh right, a mug shot. Meanwhile, this guy is sitting pretty after robbing that guys house and his neighbors. ..yup, justice is awesome.........ly flawed. Hebert was charged with two counts of burglary and drug possession. He faces up to seven years in prison if convicted. NOT QUITE ,, sitting pretty I didnt read anything in the op that implied the man was in any immediate threat,, especially nothing that the burglar was armed or confronted him in any way,,,,, but was LEAVING A NEIGHBORS house,,,, we have police to arrest and detain, we dont need citizens running around trying to detain suspected criminals with weapons,, that would be wreckless |

While I agree that that is a terrible punishment and I wouldn't tolerate the school doing that to my child, I find it very hard to believe it caused his death a month later. Unless he caught some deadly virus while he was in there, which is possible I suppose. I am not saying this didn't cause him trauma depression. Nor I am condoning the behaviour in any way, shape or form. But, I am sure it did not cause his death. Autopsy needed. I agree. There is something else there. Being locked in the bathroom is excessive though(worse than an entire classroom as I first interpreted). |

Just came across a news. A 9 years old student died of fear when his class teacher locked & left him alone inside a classroom as a punishment for not completing homework. Don't know whether that so called teacher forgot to take him out latter or left him intentionally there alone after school closure, but poor child lost his life. May god bless his soul with peace for ever & adore some affection in the hearts of everyone for innocent children. seems like alot must be missing here an other wise healthy 9 year old was frightened of being alone in a CLASSROOM(not a closet)? so much that he died of fear,,,,? was that the coroners opinion or just an columnists? its not unusual for kids not to be permitted to participate in an event (recess, for instance) if they dont complete their work,,,its not unlike being grounded at home.... I dont see it as excessive, but would look deeper into the environment outside the school that would make something like that so scary to him (IF he actually died of fear and not something else altogether) |

at the end of the day, a label will never tell you as much about a person as getting to know them
a label is not truly what or who a person is, that person decides with their actions and words the type of person they wish to be calling yourself christian while abusing children for example, doesnt make you better or more of an ACTUAL christian than someone who doesnt choose the label but chooses in their actions to take children in its not about the label, but before we get to know people, labels are the 'cover' of the book that we use to initiate or deter interest and labels mean different things to the labeler and the interpreter for me God fearing, is merely an indicator that the person takes God and the bible seriously and respects the guidance and power of God the label does not make them inherrently good or bad, but if they truly are God fearing in that sense, and their interpretation of Gods guidance is similar to my own,,, its a place to start building a solid and less divided foundation,,, |

its not about age,, its about HEALTH
“A healthy 42-year-old with no medical problems who is in good physical shape and conceives naturally is likely to have just as nice a pregnancy as a woman who is a decade younger,” says Laura Riley, MD, a maternal-fetal-medicine specialist at Massachusetts General Hospital and chairwoman of the communications committee of the Society of Maternal-Fetal Medicine. “But there are a fair number of women in their mid-40s getting pregnant through IVF who have a ‘touch’ of hypertension, are a little overweight, or are prediabetic, and that’s where we start running into problems.” http://www.health.com/health/article/0,,20411699_2,00.html if your body can still NATURALLY bear children and you are healthy, it shouldnt be much of an issue,,, |

K so I go into the world wide web and look for that special someone. I find that great guy we skype, we text, we share and are very open and honest with one another. We go on a date and have a great time. We go on date number two and we laugh like crazy enjoy eachother in all ways possible. Date number three we have a romantic diner and a few drinks go back to his house. Yes we both consented as adults and gave into eachother. It was fantastic. I learn through our dates that he is seperated from his wife a year and just moved from her basement two weeks before that. I all of a sudden get the call, "I can't see you anymore there is someone else." Another call telling me he can't perform with her like he did with me and what should he do. I thought our time together was great but look back and regret that I was the first sex he had since her. So now I find myself still thinking about him and missing him. Do I tell him that? Do I wait and see if he comes back? Move on and think his lose not mine. I miss him like crazy I was starting to feel like we had something together. So hurt and lost here..... I would tell him not to lose my number, but to decide how he wants to progress with his life. If he decides he doesnt want to be with his wife, he needs to spend significant time BY HIMSELF before I would get involved with him rebounding sucks,,, |
