You do NOT have the right to endanger someone else's safety or health. However, a watercooler romance does not harm anybody ever. It is the immaturity of SOME people if it doesn't work out that cause problems and difficulties. "

Well, if she was so worried about her religion, she wouldn't be working at A&F, and if my boss says I have to work in only suits and dresses, no midriffs, no tattoos showing, no facial piercings, no leggings, then that is what I must do. If I have any of those to proclaim my religious freedom or LACK of religious expression, it's not their business. I could make my own damned religion up and insist that leggings are incorporated into that religion, but that doesn't mean they can't tell me "no".

And, in response to your proven effects on behaviour, a lot of stupidity and bad behaviours stem from work place relationships and definitely have shown to have negative effects on productivity during and after said relationships. If it's not illegal, your employer can pretty much mandate whatever they want.

In case you haven't noticed, too many ADULTS are not mature and cannot behave and handle these matters, especially when the relationship fails or is un-equal. And why ask for trouble as an employer? Too many shades of grey and it's their liability insurance policy on the line. And if a relationship is SO IMPORTANT to two coworkers, then they should oblige company policy by removing themselves from that work environment.

Well, if forbidden relationships aren't mandated, then why not unravel the other policies, too? After all, if you get your relationships, dammit, I want my alcohol and cigarettes. It's only fair!!
Just because you say those other rules are valid doesn't mean they are. The company does, and they are the ones who OWN a business, and unless it's against the law, they can have their rules. Just like I am sure a business has had experience with alcohol and smoking, they have likely had experiences with water cooler romances with devastating impact.

This smacks of the idiot who wants to sue A&F because she wants to wear her religious headgear, not what the A&F policy wants her to wear.

And, just because a bunch of these younger guys are after us older gals doesn't mean I'll act on offers and take advantage of their stupidity or naivete' just to get a nice long ride in bed. See, right there, HUGE difference in maturity in me compared to certain man around my age. I don't take advantage of young nubile men just to satisgy my physical needs. Yes, very picky, I sure am. It's too precarious. The person in real life is usually pretty different than the online/phone one. Maybe they have all those great characteristics in reality like they do on line/phone, but you still need to see if you can co-exist in reality and see if there's that real face to face attraction.

Speaking from personal experience, I know that I am far from perfect, but I am so tired of meeting men with old pics from when they had more hair, fewer pounds and plenty of teeth which have since gone missing or turned brown.
