hi sandy
i didnt get any discs from gateway. i guess they thought by the time i needed them, i would have a new computer. i had warranty on it for a long while. they were able to do the remote type of repairs if i needed them. i had no problems, and was not aware the warranty ran out, and of course now that it has, i could sure use it, lol. if i write to gateway, i am sure they will send me a disc.

this was also written for the same family, but meant more to my friend, whose brother committed suicide. he was a vietnam vet and it finally took him away.

I Am There

Listen little sister
I have not gone away
I'll be there right beside you
Each and every day
When you think you are alone
I'll whisper in your ear
I'll gently give a tickle
To let you know I'm near
The pennies that you find
Laying on the ground
Will make you think of me
As I toss them down
Each morning when you wake
Blankets warm and tight
You'll feel my arms around you
Squeezing with all my might
The raindrops that are falling
From the sky above
Are the teardrops from my heart
To shower you with love
My dear sweet little sister
Remember as you grow
I will always be with you
No matter where you go
The leaf that falls from the tree
The warm sun on your hair
The breeze that brushes by
your face
It's me, I am there

written near the beginning of the war when one of the families in my town lost their marine son

Brother Angel

My brother is an angel
Watching over me
He left this world before his
time
In a land across the sea
He was a soldier in the war
Fighting in the sand
But now he is in God's army
In the Holy Land
My brother is an angel
He has his job to do
Protecting us from evil
Until we are angels too
Angels never have to sleep
They watch us night and day
Now that my brother is an angel
He'll watch over me as I play
At night when I am sleeping
He'll stand guard while I rest
To have my brother for an angel
Is better than the best

hi drew
thank you for your sympathy. i have some back up, but not totally. i am an amatuer at the computer things, but i make it through usually. i do not think i have a disc to reload windows. i bought the puter through gateway, and they loaded everything into it for me, except what i added later.
i will leave it off until i have time to do to it what i need, and make do with the laptop until then

My Shoes

When I went out to dinner I heard the words you said
And at the grocery store in the aisle by the bread
I even heard you say at work these kids had their choice
I wanted to strangle you and take away your voice
You were discussing soldiers and how their mothers feel
You said it was a part of life that they should all get real
You said that you were tired of the tears your neighbor shed
Her child was only at war, she certainly was not dead
You said you couldn't understand what the fuss was all about
If I hear you say one more word I'll do more than just shout
I'm going to throw my shoes at you and make you put them on
You won't even have to walk the mile or wear them for very long
The minute you slip your feet in them you will feel all the pain
That I am feeling while my child is fighting in the rain
Your tears will flow just like mine while your feet are in my shoes
Through the eyes of an army mom you will see how I see you
You'll know the fear I feel each night when I go to bed
You'll feel the pain I feel at the words the people said
You'll feel the pride and joy to have a soldier in your life
You will also feel their struggles and their strife
Now give me back my shoes, they are too good for you to wear
Because you don't believe in our soldiers over there

i have verizon broadband. works fairly well. i use my desk pc 95 percent of the time. the other night, windows (?) put their automatic update dohoppy (yeah, professional there, lol) and i clicked to update. the update was for the xp service pack 3. it ran, then said i could not do it, access denied. then two screens popped up (black) screen one said system32cmd access denied. screen two said imc.exe access denied.
i searched on my laptop for these and it said the imc.exe was (friendfinder messenger) malicious malware. (it has been on my puter for quite sometime and i had no problem) i went and removed it. because now my internet is not accessible. the broadband signs in, but i cannot go anywhere. none of my messengers sign on,(yahoo, aim, etc)i only get the I.E. cannot display the webpage. i did diagnostic on the page. it says, windows has detected a connection problem between the computer and the modem
i have run spyware and virus programs.
i have rebooted
i have reloaded the verizon program.
the only thing i have not done is give up or take it to someone who is computer savvy/genius. last time i let someone else repair my computer, they lost a big part of my files. they said they could not save them, and i found out later, they had been saveable, he just didnt do it. and i PAID for that service. so now, i just do it all myself, with the help of nice people like you out there
now,i am begging you, please help me bring my pc back to the internet. i am working off my laptop, with the very same broadband program, so i know it works.
i have windows xp on both puters. the desk pc is 3 or 4 years old. i know, i should update, but it is doing what i need (when it is not doing this!) and i am too poor to do it. beside, i am not ready for vista. i set up for others, and didn't like it.
now i will quit babbling so someone might finish this post and be able to tell me what i can do to revive the old guy.

If You Wouldn't

Today I am staying in bed
Pulling the covers up over my head
Burrowing so deep I'll never be found
Holding my ears to block out the sounds
Closing my eyes and squeezing them tight
Trying to hide with all of my might
And you wonder why
I try so hard not to cry
And you wonder what
Is this problem that I've got
Well, let me fill you in
You can tell me then
If you wouldn't feel the same
My child has gone away
He left me in a bind
He told me not to wait for him
He told me he'd be fine
He told me not to worry
He told me not to fear
He took my heart away with him
Though he tried to leave it here
You wonder why he left
You wonder where he went
He went across the ocean
By the government he was sent
He may be gone a day
He may be gone a year
He may be gone forever
Gone is gone, not here
Now that you know what
Is this problem that I've got
Tell me now that you see
If I were you and you were me
If you wouldn't feel the same

One Nation Under God

When I went to grade school
Before class every day
I pledge allegiance to the flag
Is what we all would say.
Each and every student
Beside their seat would stand
Their eyes up front upon the flag
And upon their heart a hand
I pledge allegiance to the flag
We all would say out loud
Of the United States of America
Oh we stood so proud
And to the republic for which it stands
We didn't know what that meant
One Nation, Under God
Everyone lived together then
Indivisible
Invisible is what I thought it said
With freedom and justice for all
And this was clear in our heads
We knew because of this flag
We were free to stand together
This flag went forth in every war
To shield us against the weather
It showed all our given right
To worship how we choose
It proved that united as we stood
We could never lose
And for these given rights
On this land where they have tread
One Nation Under God
Our forefathers fought and bled
Our ancestors gave their lives
To make this nation one
Allowing us freedom to worship
Our Father and His Son
One Nation Under God
The land of the brave and free
One Nation Under God
The land where I choose to be
