You don't have to post a recipe to post, you can just say "Got any good pot roast recipes?" or what are some good side dishes for Thanksgiving, or just stories? Or even "I like pie!!" LOL

Cooking is a hobby of mine and I like to share. This post isn't about the food. It is about the minglers are are interested in food and what interests them.

I cook, I eat, I bake (I love to bake when I'm stressed out). I'm not a gourmet chef by any means (though I can be if the situation calls for it) but mostly I just like cooking things people love. Lately, in order to save both time and money, I've been cooking things on weekends that can be thrown in the freezer for the upcoming week or whenever I can't/don't feel like cooking. So, always on the lookout for that kind of thing.

I do that a lot. I'll post some of my faves. Hopefully you will too!

Thanks! It's actually a new thing for me, I'm still tweaking. Though I did come up with one thing that both my boyfriend and son like:

Teriyaki chicken (or pork)

2-3 lbs boneless skinless chicken thighs (or pork roast)
3-4 medium/large carrots
one medium onion
2 bunches scallions
3-4 stalks celery
1/2 pineapple
one red pepper
about 1/2 pound snow peas
8 oz package mushrooms
one bottle teriyaki sauce (I like the Kikkoman Triple ginger or garlic/green onion)

Cube chicken/pork into bite size pieces. Chop veggies into bite size pieces. Put all into crockpot, pour whole bottle of teriyaki sauce over. Cover and cook on low about 6 hours. Cool, put into freezer bags and freeze (one crockpot full fits into a gallon size freezer bag but you can use a couple smaller ones, depending on size of family).

Thaw, heat in microwave or on stove. I thicken with a slurry of cornstarch/water but it's unnecesary, just a matter of taste. Serve with rice.

This is easy and quick to put together. And, the nice thing is, you can clean out your veggie crisper when making this, you can pretty much put whatever veggies you like/have on hand.

Yes, cook and see the world and get paid for it. As I have a "captive" bunch (like thy could swim to another ship to eat, NOT) I try new things once in awhile.

When you travel, look for the local versions of "ketchup." Just about every culture has their own condiment, the one they put on everything. Those are almost always worth trying out.

I lived with an Executive Chef for 10yrs & unfortunately not much impresses me any more...when you eat Fine Dining for that long, you get used to it...tears But I still enjoy cooking (especially with friends) & some good seafood will usually get my mouth to water...drool
