There was a thread the other day about "problem words" -- I had totally forgotten about this one until it popped up yesterday.
I type medical reports and this one comes up fairly often. Thought I would share my "problem" word with you. If you have an infected wound, it has "pus" drainage, correct? So if the doctor dictates "pus-sy" drainage from the wound --- there are so many ways to take that word.     And, no I do not type it that way, I change the sentence around and use "pus," not "pus-sy."  Thought I could get a smile or at least a smirk out of some of you. Ummm, if you are eating dinner, I humbly apologize.     |

I've seen it used in that context a few times, and I always have to go back and reread it....!

Some doctors will ask you to make sure not to type it that way, others just say it and I catch it and turn the sentence around.
Hmmmm, poor person has "kitty" drainage from their wound.

I sure hope there is no pus in pus-sy....perhaps beck to the doctor for you...

Hahahahaha! I remember this in nursing school and taking notes. Everyone would stop at the same time and erase pus-sy. Purulent drainage works!

Yeah, have had some pretty good notes come up when I was typing
x-rays at a big hospital. You wouldn't believe what jail inmates will eat to try to get out of jail, didn't work though, took their x-ray and sent them back . And, what some men will "insert" and "lose" and have to go under general anesthetic to have retrieved. Yikes!!!!!

Yeah, you'd be surprised to see what some people will try to take into prison, and how they try to sneak them in. |

I worked in the prison system for 17 years, was amazed at what they tried to smuggle in and HOW!!!! Geez, creative suckers. Some people will smuggle smokes in any way they can.

Had some of the women sneaking in smokes, Chapsticks, jewelry, lighters, etc., in baggies, you can guess where. Men tried it too, but not quite as "much" at one time,

Problem words:
My peeve is how often affect is used, when effect would be the correct choice. End rant, I've so few. That one always irks, how silly am I? Rhetorical, no answers in droves, please ...

Wonder and Wander are two that I know used to upset one person greatly. He would even post the defintions for both, and use them in sentences, some people I think did it on purpose to upset him.
