“What are you doing?”
Asked in a voice laced with mild amusement.

“N---uf ‘ fin”.
Responded in a higher tone of voice than normal
Allowing me to realize laughter is being mightily restrained.

Little legs pump
With arms swigging to maintain balance
As he busily zips back-n-forth
Until
Finally, he picks a spot to quiver in anticipation
At letting his amusement run rampant
In squeals of delighted laughter.

I look questioningly
Into his bright mirth filled blue eyes
Silently asking if it’s time to go look now.
His face barely flinches, yet up-
There it is --- that quiver of anticipation
Silently begging, “Ohhh do hurry, this is gonna be good!”

I stalk my way to
The room where
the evidence of his “N---uf’fin” lay.
Darting quick looks back at him
Questioning if sum-pin is gonna
JUMP OUT
and get me
Before I get there?
His excited anticipation follows me
Causing a huge grin to remain on my face.

Delightedly in fake indignation I yelp,
“HEY, since when does a Tennis Ball
Wear my sneaker?”

His delight
ERUPTS into the room
As his bursts of laughter infect
all those in the house.

Ohhhh how we love the game of ---- “N--uf’in”!

Awww I miss the feel of chubby little hands on my cheeks and the whispers of "I lub you". Can't wait to have grandchildren!!

There is nothing more rewarding then when those small arms wrap around your neck and you hear those sweet words I love you sooooooooo much

I'm so weird, for me, it's when he proudly holds something up, identifies it verbally by its commonly known word, and his annunciation is flawless. We're still workin on those pesky thr sounds. Oh and Oy vay, he's picked up accents from somewhere and does them very well.
