I know I have done similar to this myself. Based on certain types and it being bad experiences, I stop dating those types. I'm almost 39 and I didn't feel that it was directed at me. I read it (as I said) that he was referring to his dating experiences and basing his opinion on his own experiences. Maybe the older women he has dated go on a date with bridal magazines in hand....who knows? I didn't go on the dates with him to know this.

This was about his experiences in dating and his decision.

Some might say they won't date someone with muscles and works out a lot based in past experiences (or insert any thing else in this)

But if he is refusing to date them...is that not his choice?

I agree with you YellowRose. I think the difference here is (a) some are respondong to what he actually said (b) some are responding with past impressions of TS foremost in their mind, and (c) some are responding with their own issues regarding older men and younger women.

Seems like age is a more touchy subject than most as maturity levels have nothing to do with age, per say. I once dated a guy going through a divorce and said I would never do that again but I don't consider that the same as knocking out an entire age demographic. To know someone has a personality trait you don't like or a situation you don't feel comfortable with you'd actually have to have talked to them first. But as I stated previously in this thread, I'm sure the women he's refusing to date based on his own bias are glad to not have to deal with him anyway.

whatever the reason...I can only speak for myself. I didn't take it personal. I'm almost 39 so I would fall into that category. My impression is that he based this decision on personal dating history. That's fine with me.

Just as if someone dates heavy set girls (I'm skinny) that is fine. They are the ones that need to date who they are interested in. As long as the other is at least 18....so what?

I dated a guy 9 yrs younger than me and stole my truck and was a dead beat. I made the choice not to date that young again....plus I have a 19 yr old and not interested in that age range. Should I not have that right based on my past experiences?

I think one of the main problems is that he speaks quite a bit about " middle aged " women bashing men....but yet...whenever he posts something like that, it's nothing more than a thinly veiled bash on middle aged women.

There is a bit of a double standard there that a lot of people around here are compelled to call him on.

You should but you don't go around stating it like there is something wrong with all of them...

Maybe not here, but I will say how I feel when I need to. I just come up with other mindless topics laugh

I think everyone that knows me in real life knows what I like or not and knows why. And I rarely hold back in real life laugh

Offending the masses seems to be the specialty of some.. Terry is right, it's done to get the craws up.. I typically have ignored these posts... One of you's got me here and I had stayed out a long time.... laugh

Would this not be a generalization as well?? I didn't take the OP as all women of a certain age. I took it as all the women of a certain age that he dated.

Well if he's refusing to date ANY women of a certain age then he has lumped them all into a group based ONLY on the women he's encountered.

I think YellowRose is making a very important distinction. If I get to know a dozen women from the downtown clubs, and every single one of them tries to use me for my money (which is funny to me, because I have so little), I'm going to quite dating women from the downtown clubs.

This is different then deciding that all the women who go to downtown clubs are looking for money.

There is a difference between 'looking at your experience and making an categorical decision' and 'making a prejudiced categorical statement about people'.

If a lot of people feel this way, maybe our community benefits from people who notice this and will inject a light hearted criticism of this trollish behavior at the very beginning. Or even one of these: yawn

It is also different to say you don't want to date people of a certain race because they "act" a certain way, instead of just saying you're not attracted to them. If you're not attracted to them, understood... if you assume they are all the same based on some bias you have against people you have met of said race is prejudicial in my opinion.

ok...I don't date anyone younger than mid 30's based on past experiences and my preference. I don't see any difference

I have voiced my opinion on here (like many other women) when a young guy emails them. I see no difference in posting these things and making topics about the same

And see how "nicely" you said that? You 1) didn't mistate what their age group is and 2) you did not knock the whole age group, you've chosen to keep yourself out of it...

Very true. If you noticed I posted my opinions on the OP and what I read. I wasn't offended by it myself. If someone doesn't want to date me because they think every woman my age is the same, based on their past experiences, that's fine with me

A lot of times it's not what you say but how you say it... there's a word for it, I believe it's "tact". Some just don't care to present themselves in a tactful way and for that they will get back lash. I've only stated my opinions and in no way do I believe any opinions (mine or otherwise) to be true or false.

Yes I noticed that and that's fine b/c that's how you feel.. But others took issue with the "lump sum"...
