I was chatting with a friend earlier about how most people are not upfront about things. Unfortunately, I'm finding that to be true more often than not lately.

What about you guys? Do you find that most people you know are upfront about things? Are you upfront even if it's not going to make someone happy?

It could be bad also if someone is upfront. I'm honest and I say how it is and it has gotten me into more trouble than good.

I am as "upfront" as is possible, with due consideration for other ppls feelings. No reason to be absolutely and brutally honest if it is going to hurt someones feelings, provided there is a way to diplomatically accomplish the same result.

Yes that is so true! I have met a couple of people that are not upfront with things and they need to be upfront with people and stop wasting peoples time.

I'm just me one either likes me the way I'm or they don't. I try to be very honest of who I'm when someone ask me something I will answer without a thought.... I've never tried to be someone I'm not. One may not like what my answers are but then guess they should not ask if they don't want the truth..noway

Even though I have ran across some that are not. It happens we just have to weed out the bad from the good..

I find that some people are not upfront about things for what ever reason. Myself I'm upfront because I am clear about my intentions or what ever the situation may be.

Actually, many aren't as up front as I, that I meet. My honesty has gotten me into trouble occassionally, but also, earned me th reputation of a non-gossiper, I will tell you to take it someplace else. I earned the repuatation of an honest person that will not stuff my opinion down your neck it you ask me for my opinion I will give it. I prefer to keep my mouth shut on things, I am not asked about.....you cannot choose for others, but maybe your view or a part of it can help them on their way, provided they want it......

As long as it is not going to going to hurt anyone's feeling too badly I am upfront. I am noticing it nowadays how people are less likely to be upfront as well. Oh well.. Karma will catch up to them. smile2

I have a reputation for keeping my mouth shut about things.
I also have a reputation for being honest to a fault.

My level of honesty is actually viewed as a pretty severe character flaw most of the time. People find you much more fascinating if you construct an insincere narrative (in my experience - I'm sure it's not that way for most people).

If I think it, I say it. Self-censoring is not my strong suit. I'm frequently in trouble because of it, but those who love me seem to appreciate never having to wonder what I'm 'really' thinking. I gravitate toward those who are upfront. I have a hard time with people I feel I have to decipher. Mind reading is exhausting...yawn

I'm straightforward, polite, but blunt and I am always taken as being aggressive or insulting.

I think people get too butt-hurt and unless everything is served on a sugar-coated silver platter - they cry to someone.

We live in a debilitating PC world and some people have been coddled too much. Just because someone hears “No” or the hear anything other than what they want to hear – they cry “rudeness”.

I hate to see "said" people on the job when confronted or reviewed by their bosses. slaphead

Let me guess...you talked with some people, who aren't giving you the whole picture and think you wouldn't figure it out?

Oh!! I took "upfront" to mean when a person asks for an opinion they are offended by either the truth or another person's opinion.

Ignore my preceding reply. tongue2

I agree the people are less than candid and truthful. I suppose some of my previous reply still applies to this meaning also. People don’t tell the truth and are usually not prepared for the truth.

Skating around the truth; avoiding confrontation to keep from getting caught; or avoiding the truth as to not hurt someone’s feelings (cowardliness). It’s all there.

If asked I'll tell the truth...always.

If I'm being asked something that isn't anyone's business, I just ask them why they want to know.

Are others 'upfront' with me..I don't know, probably most of the time. If they aren't I'll figure it out eventually anyway.

My boys, my true friends, yes..I believe their 'up front' with me. They know I won't judge them so they have learned they can tell me anything.

And you know what's worse?

That he or she would think that you are not smart enough to figure it out. I have to say my major turn down is when someone thinks i'm an idiot. That gets me, even though I'm nice about it and i kindly remind the fella that I can read between the lines.

I'm not getting into specifics here. I was just interested in what others had to say on the subject.
