Yeah, that happens frequently. There seems to be a fine line between what might be minimal, and what might be major.

Even dating smokers, and since I don't smoke. I've always been asked why I didn't push the issue of asking them to quit. I see that as far more major, and it's not my responsibility for them to quit.

That for sure. Though for me, more in the case of they were too stoned to get off their *** and find a job, much less help around the place.

Hmmmm..I gave up riding a motorcycle for 2 husbands because neither felt it was fashionable for a cops wife or a school administrators wife to ride..so I gave it up and never thought about it, didn't hurt my feelings at all...I was young and had lots of time to do that later.. Well, its later and they are both dead and I will not give up my Harley for anyone...bigsmile Makes no difference to me if you ride or not, just something I grew up with and love to do.. Accept me as I am or not at all.. When I am ready I will give it up...flowerforyou

Are there things you would give up for the person you cared about if they asked?

My mom asked dad to quit hunting. He did, it wasn't a big deal to him.

maybe small things, but someone who loved me wouldnt ask me to GIVE up anything that made me happy unless it was unhealthy and then we could compromise,,,

I could give up the internet(provided they also didnt use internet)
I could give up most electronics
..but not my music,,lol

I hear ya on that one!! I got my Harley because I could remember my grandfather taking off on his bike for a couple hours every Sunday. He always said it was a good way to clear the mind. Now I do the same whenever I can. Of course mine isn't near as fancy as the bike he had, but he was in the Shrine Motorcycle Corp. Have a great story about him riding it to the top floor of the Hyatt Regency in downtown KC. Gotta love shriners. laugh

However, our school superintendent rides a Hog to school now.

If anyone asked me to get rid of any of my cats then I'm definitely walking away, I will not give up my cats for the life of me.

I am pretty sure this is not politically correct.
But.
I would give up anything for the one I loved.

Do they really love you if they're making you give up all kinds of things, though?

Ah but they would not be "making" me.

There's nothing I wouldn't give up for the right guy.

When I think about it, Soufie and Ruth are right.

I mean I've given up jobs, homes, and who knows what all else for the wrong one before. What wouldn't I give up for the RIGHT one?!?
