the language barrier can be extremely serious if you can't work past it. you either need to get very, very good at english, or he needs to get very, very good at Filipino. It will not work if that does not happen.

nice commment:smile: ...

but most filipina they can speak / write and understand english very we'll... so i think this is not a problem, to make a relationship, with a foreign or different nationality... LANGUAGE IS NOT A BIG ISSUE...

i'm a filipina, i just recently move here in louisville, to my parents.. i'm not fluent in english, but i can fully understand english language... co'z in my country, english is my second language, so most people, in school, they use english...

My grandmother was Korean and my grandfather was an American.......they had five children and did well together. I do not understand, if you are asking whether men prefer an Asian female over an American one here, or if what people think of American/asian relationships? Please clarify your question intent, as English words can have up to 5 meanings......

this is what i want to hear in this topic, what they happen in a relationship for different culture, co'z i 'm a filipina and i been in a relationship with american, but its to complicated...

this is a big issue for us... "DISTANCE" we live in different cities...
but we still have strong felling for each other, wer still holding the HOPE... that someday, we could be together... maybe this is a trial for us... to see until how long to love each other... but every day, every minute, every second... its really sad... missing each other so badly... but i know time will tell...

thanks..

can I advise to slow it down,, from experience

internet relations can be QUITE different than what happens when people actually start physically interacting in each others cultures, worlds, families,,,etc,,,

AGREED!! Never plan a 'wedding' before you meet someone in person. I don't care how long you've been communicating, until you actually can be IN PERSON with them, they are still an 'image' in your mind. Once you experience their mannerisms, behavorial patterns, the way they interact with others that you can SEE/HEAR .. you do not have an accurate understanding of 'them'.

flowerforyou I know you are really excited and happy and it may sound like we are just raining on your parade. We are all very happy that you are happy, but there is some good advice here. Please listen.

Is there some reason why you are getting married? Could you just live with each other for a while? If he's coming to you to get married...why not just be together and not get married? Or better yet....don't live together either. If he's serious enough to marry you, then he could move closer to you and you can just date normally for a year. Or two. Please think about it. flowerforyou

I agree with these ladies, met the guy first because the physical presnece is important before planning somthing long term. and may i ask, will you get married in the Philippines? Girl, you should know how hard it is to get out of that marriage before you even think of getting into one ( i take it from experience). The idea of romance and true love is all so GREAT but you have to stay grounded too! reality bites you know, but thats the way it should be. I am wishing you all the best but i am also hoping what your gut feeling is telling you. I know it is whispering something, you just don't want to hear it...
