Do long distance relationships work?

My personal view is that unless there is a very real possibility of meeting and spending regular real-time together - it could be nothing more than a pleasant interaction which ultimately leads to dissapointment.

Any relationship even ones long established needs nurturing -

There may be people who have faith in the power of love and perhaps who have huge amounts of self control. The fear is that you or the other person may meet someone else who is closer to hand or either of you may doubt the other's committment.

Hope I don't sound overly pessimistic.?

Sorry,I disagree...all depends on he or she...what she or he really wants or looking for ...how she or he are mature or immature...how she or he is strong or weak as a person...how she or he is independent or dependent...etc.

If you have a faith that it will work out then it will be...but then if you or the other side made foolishness then it won't work out

if:

you are reaaaallly in love(and this is a good way to find out)

if you nuture the relationship constantly (one of ya slacks off---its over)

Ya dont get bored of the nothingness--of having noone there in between the visits

It really depends on the people involved in the relationship. I have had them work for awhile and then it seems that it just fizzles out.

I have heard lots of sucess stories. Personally I am in this current situation. We care very deeply for each other but I don't think he is as willing to try and make things work as I am.

You get what you put into a relationship. Local or not it doesn't matter. It's how committed and in love you are with one another. It takes a lot more cummunication, trust, honesty. Lots of video chats help make a relationship stronger too.
