Children see it as adults way of closing the door so they emulate them

yea they do that when they are young...
in the tweens they do it when they are mad... in the teens they just do it to piss you off

an automatic reaction when they walk away from you and go into their room...Bang!better that then stabbing or shooting you

the couple times they did it,,,
it was to get negative attention,,,,,, now they dont do it anymore,,,

I think its because they haven't learnt how to express their frustration with things. They can't shout at you because that would get them in trouble so instead they slam the door. I have four kids and as they grew up it was always a occasional stage they went through

Kids know better then to slam my door.We learned young not to do that.
My mom would make us six kids stand and open and shut the door right about 20 to 100 times.Worked like a dream!    And if an adult slams my door,they have a dog on there a$$ real quick!  So door slaming problen here

Why the hell do your children always insist on slamming the god damn door? Just curious.......... Mine dont, if they slam it they lose it, no big deal, if they cant treat it with respect they dont need it, so they lose it for a week. goes a long way to making them think about it. |

It is their way of venting, expressing their frustrations and partly just being defiant. I had a habitual door slammer until I took all the doors off upstairs for 3 weeks.. problem solved. :)
