I'd ditch a man for a pet any day... but then again, a man could be my pet

Hmmm... we had this question before once... And I don't think it's so easy to answer...

I love my cats, I love certain dogs, not all. ANd that's where it can get tricky. I'm scared of certain dogs. As in chit scared. I've been bitten myself in the past, have had my son come home ripped to shreds by a dog twice ...
So what if the guy I date/fall in love with has a dog that scares the bejesus out of me?
I can tell you I will not even go to his place for a coffee, let alone spend an evening or night together.
So this would be a serious problem if he was adamant about keeping the dog.

Now I love my cats to death, so I totally get that the sacrifice of giving up a pet. It would break my heart to do so.
But on the other hand side ... if I'm worth less than a dog to my new partner ... do I really want to be his partner?

Let's get black and white: That would mean if the house was on fire and he had to choose between saving me and his dog, he would save his dog!
Sorry ... No matter how much you love your pet, if it means more to you than I do ... I don't think we're talking about true love here.

Sorry to say most peoples reasoning in this thread is a mite dubious? Everyone always claims they're willing to give up hearth and home for the right partner, yet no one is willing to give up their pet?
Somehow that doesn't compute ...

what is a 'prescription' to keep a cat?
is it an assistance cat or something??( is there such a thing?)

it depends upon alot of factors

if we were just 'dating', and keeping seperate places,, no, I wouldnt expect that person to give up the pet but to possibly keep it at a distance when I am there,, if I have an allergy or fear or something like that

if we were moving in together, thats a step beyond dating, and I dont think its a good idea for either party to abandon all and move in where the other is already comfortable,, I prefer to look for a new place that we start in TOGETHER,,,and that way we can look for those places that fit both of our needs

I would not ask a woman to give up anything. but if the cat caused me discomfort and I was miserable live with your pet. I would pack up and leave. life too short to be miserable. if u loved the man his needs should be considered. if u love the cat more than the man stay with the cat.

Yes you can actually get from either a Doctor or mental health a prescription to call whatever a "companion pet". They are used for many things anxiety to list one of the big reasons.

Would I give up my Dog for a man nope...
I have always said I am a package deal love me and my dog or I don't think we will make it anyway.

And if someone had a pet I couldn't get a long with then I would wish them well.
