I was browsing movies and t.v. shows on Netflix last night trying to decide what to watch and not being able to decide what I was in the mood for.

Drama, horror, comedy, documentary, etc. All there waiting at the click of a button to be watched at your leisure and convenience.

And yet it all seemed like a waste of time. It used to be we hurried to make sure we watched our favorite show on television because it was on at a special time and if we missed it we missed it. How horrible.

But having the ability to take your pick of things to watch any time you want to watch them just suddenly dawned on me that these things were a waste of time.

Being dragged through some drama or grossed out at some horror flick or watching some biased documentary struck me as an evil distraction from what is really important.

Living your real life.

Horrible or boring as that might be, it is my life and I am trying to escape it with television and the computer.

Ever feel like that? Can we break our habits and distractions and do something real for a change? I wonder. Well, I'm going to think about that a lot.

I haven't had a Television for over Three years now and haven't missed it for one minute.

I spend too much time on the computer but Mingle takes up a lot of that time so should I get bored with this site I believe that will sort that out for me.....drinker

I will definitely spend less time on the computer should Palestine be settled and American Foreign Policy improves.

The outside world is reduced to paranoid nasty people, All the places to go and things to do around here either fade into obscurity, or has lost it's appeal. There is nothing good on television anymore, and I find my addiction to internet and dvds is terminal. frightening isn't it?

Yes its frightening. If the grid goes down people will have to peel themselves out of their chairs and go outside.

Now apply this situation to God. Think how bored he got being an omnipotent being. wow.

No wonder he made the world and all of us. Now he has someone to play with. LOL

My cable company WOW, decided last year to force customers to get boxes for every TV in their house to get access to all channels besides local ones for the most part. We decided not to go along with it, seeing as they would take up space better used for other things, give us a bigger electric bill (on top of getting warm fast), and we have one digital tv in the living room, so if anyone wanted to watch something badly enough that they couldn't somewhere else, they'd watch it there.

Having so few channels in my room now, it's really shown me how much time I wasted watching it, particularly sports. I was obsessed with it at times, if a game was on I'd wanna watch it and I'd feel I missed out if I didn't. Now though it really doesn't bother me, I hardly pay attention to most games on a given day now, sans a few I can watch on a channel I still get, and I don't miss it as much as I thought I would. I've found there are things more important. That and I can download games or view them online if I wanna watch them that bad too (kinda into that actually), but don't even do that very much.

It also in the case of baseball, put me back in touch with the radio a bit, as the Tigers games are all on a cable channel here for the most part. I have found I actually like the radio broadcasts better, the announcers and also for the fact that I can do other things while listening.

It's just been interesting to note, I spend far less time watching TV now than I did before outside of late nights, and I don't miss it very much. There's one show I kinda miss, but that's about the only one.

I had fun with my dog, Lady this morning. I was raking leaves and she was trying to bite the rake. I kept trying to rake the leaves and she kept stirring them up. Interesting enough though while trying to rake the leaves I noticed acorns sprouting under the leaves. I felt like I had disturbed some delicate ecosystem.

you guys are silly

first, I'm too nice nice to ask mark how much he paid for it, and I'm only kidding anyway - I know he has a regular GF....so I'm just joking about that

but I am not joking about y'all being silly - of course we exist in cyber space as an extension of IRL - face to face meeting...

of course we all have friends we meet in person too - or at least mostly we do- the idea is to meet a man on here (unless you're a man and no disrespect to homosexuals) and then meet him in person and exchange body fluids

so the internet is just a tool, but it's fun to see how it had changed peoples lives & habits
