Am I the only Mingle2 member who is concerned about people trapped in poverty?

How can you not respond to people living in these condition?

I wonder if the Christians here know and understand just what the Bible says about poverty.

I CARE,,and I try and help here,,to many who our down and poor.

The problem is that the WORLD turns away to anything THEY WANT TO BLAME OTHERS FOR,,mean while, the children starve, and become damaged for life IF THEY DON'T DIE FIRST.
And AMERICA,,STILL THROWS AWAY MORE FOOD,,than THEY HAVE EVER SEEN!

Politics', and Hypocrites, as everyone says who gives a heck?

AND THAT MY FRIEND IS MOST PEOPLE'S VIEWS AND THOUGHTS.
Yet STILL THE KIDS ARE THE ONES WHO "CAN'T" FIGHT FOR THEIR RIGHTS!

WE should ALL,,,CARE ABOUT EVERY CHILD'S LIFE!! EVERY CHILD BORN!

I care about everyone, but am aware I do not have the capacity or resources to help everyone just because I care

I have to first take care of my responsibility to those children God personally blessed me with

on the occasions when others ask for help, and I am able , I do,,,,

It's OK not to be directly involved in the fight againt poverty if you do not have the means to be involved.

I have a huge issue with that. If these people are so heart up for money food or what not..why don't they stop screwing and making children that they expect America to step up and feed. Nobody is feeding my family. If you are going to make them...then you need to plan out how you're going to feed them.
So as I said in a previous thread... drop a plane load of condoms there and call it a day.

Its NOT just other Countries feeling THIS NEED?
Kentucky and MANY states LIVE depressed in this economy.
So many children are NOT receiving the right amount of food and nutrition,,and MANY have two parents who truly love them and want to do their BEST for them,,but CAN'T,,because there is no work for them to find,,that gives them ENOUGH monies to PROVIDE?
YES,,we have CHOICES AS ADULTS,,,CHILDREN DIDN'T ASK TO BE BORN?
And people NEVER receiving proper Educations toward HAVING CHILDREN,
is MUCH of the issues over Sea's..

FWIW, I used to work at a shelter for homeless people. The women and children there weren't there because the women kept having babies.
The same goes for poor women who live outside the USA. It is not at all unusual for children to become trapped in poverty because their fathers abandoned them.

I think a lot of people are compassionate but are challenged enough just keeping their own heads above water in this economy.

I agree that efforts to stem population growth in poor nations is needed but that begins with understanding & education rather than condemnation

Also there is a mistrust of large international charities

Our church helps support the poor and abused from the homeless shelters. Those that seek receive in situations of abuse and food issues. They also volunteer at the soup kitchens. We put on each year Sonfest a carnival of sorts and give free food and admittance to those too poor to be able to do those things for their children. Living in homeless shelters etc.

My friends church opened a soup kitchen amongst other things......churches do what they can for the poor....including supporting missionaries abroad.....raising money to feed the poor abroad.....

Church attendance and support reductions caused the closing of churches and help to the needy through less tithes and support from the community.

I don't. I just wanted to know who else here is involved in the fight against poverty.

Ah, ok. Your opening line made it seem as though you thought you were the only one.

I work with a local group who donates/volunteers to help homeless and/or low income families in the area.

I like to do things that are more geared in helping families here in Kentucky.......smokin

I think poverty could be reduced greatly with better education and preparation

teach people to be not just 'productive' for someone elses gain

but teach them how to 'produce' something for themself, to be entrepreneurs instead of paid peasants,,,,,

two things that take both the community and the immediate family to occur,,,,

Id like to teach women from a young age about self respect, to help decrease the incidence of 'unwanted' children and fatherless homes

ID also like to have a private community to help struggling single and two parent homes network and get on their feet,,,

Christians do not hold a monopoly on morals and compassion. I am glad you see that you don't have to be Christian to care about your fellow man, have love and compassion and truly care about others.

I don't believe anyone said that they did. There are just many christian groups supporting groups that do, initiating programs, going on pilgrimages, becoming missionaries and doing more than individuals do because they pull together their resources to do it. No one said you had to be a christian to help, donate, or volunteer time.
