Weird topic, I know. But, have you ever watched TV at a bar? Have you ever asked for a TV to be changed to a specific channel to watch a specific show or game? Do you think it's rude for a customer to ask for a TV in a bar to be changed to a different channel?

rule no. 1, the t.v.s are there for the customers.
rule no. 2, it's a democracy on changing the channels,
if there is no objection to changing the
channel, so be it as long as the next
channel does not pizzz someone off.
generally it's always some type of sports
which is hardly likely to pizzz peeps off.

you didn't ask the right question... it should have been do you think it is right for someone to ask to have a channel changed because he didn't want anyone watching it, even tho the person asking did not want to watch anything?

Yes, I've watched tv in a bar.
No, I personally haven't asked to have the channel changed but I worked in a bar for 13 yrs and had a few customers who did.

Why are they bad for asking? The tvs are there to be watched by customers. If someone is already watching, chances are, the channel won't be changed.

My experience is the channel gets changed. Since I drink tea it seems I don't get to vote...

I've asked for one to be changed before. But the bar we were in had t.v.s all over the place,so it wasn't really a big deal. I wouldn't ask if there was only one t.v. and a lot of people watching whatever was on it though.

Again, why are they bad for asking? Did you make everyone aware that you were watching what was on the tv? Did the bartender ask you if it was ok to change the channel? Did you speak up?

If I wanted to watch TV, I would stay home. I understand why they have them in bars and restaurants though.

I like going to watch games. When I've asked for a certain game to be put on the tv, I've heard the bartender ask others if they mind. And I've also heard others ask for something to be turned on and the bartender has asked those of us already there if we mind.

When a place has 4 or 5 tvs, it's never usually an issue either.
