I'm not a big fan of modern "cookie-cutter" type of weddings. I have to feel really really close to someone before I'll consider going to a wedding these days!

It was great. I planned everything.

We had a reception on the upper floor overlooking the city in early
summer. It was a beautiful day sun with clouds. We had classical
music chamber music to go with the hors d'oevres. Formal dining room
wait staff in tuxes dinner for a hundred or so mixture of relatives
and close friends.

Several friends and family roasted us publicly instead of toasts
all on tape.

During dinner large thunderclouds huge high anvils moved in and
just as the desserts were being served it got very dark and we
were treated to an incredible thunderstorm with many lightning
strikes near us. Spectacular.

Live jazz and blues for dancing after dinner until midnight.

Overnight at a very special historic hotel. Followed by getaway
over a long weekend of hiking and canoeing and staying at an
old rustic country lodge.

Winter 10-day honeymoon in Hawaii.

Would do it all again under the right circumstances.

Yes, I do like weddings because I enjoy being part of joyful
celebrations with my close friends and family.

That was awesome slowhand....

Myself I like weddings as well it is a new beginning....

Plus I enjoy being out around friends and family having a great time..

Matter of fact my daughter is planning her wedding. And I can't wait..

As far as me I have only been married once and it was at a Justice of the Peace. If it was to happen again I would want at least a small wedding... nothing fancy just country style... outside with a band and food and drinks.... :drinks

I chose to marry outside coz my brother wouldnt set foot in a church. My husband & his friends played 'Unchained Melody' My husband sang it to me whilst I walked to him.The pastor ignored our wishes & preached a freaken sermon. All went downhill from there

Yes I like weddings, but I sure dont want to participate in a religious one ever again. I wont take that risk again personally.

I had a traditional hand-fasting service; the entrance music was Highland Cathedral- on video you can see me mouth WTF when the DJ switches to the Wedding March, as all entrances were timed to Highland Cathedral. Also, the new father-in-law tried to smoke the sage incense because he thought is was something else. As she was into heavy metal, our first dance was to some Metallica song. We jumped a sword and broom and she did a traditional Fillipino dance balancing lit candles while people swung sticks at her feet. Our wedding vows were from Tristam and Isodile (sp?). I kept my vows, she didn't.

Next time, why don't you just give me a paper cut and throw salt in it.

If you were married in the past what was your wedding like?...What type of wedding would you like to have if you ever decide to get married again? Or get married for the first time?...Do you like to go to weddings?

The following is an excerpt of an interview of me conducted by a blog.
I am identified by the initials DD:

LLP: How was your wedding?

DD: The wedding lasted much longer than I expected. During the ceremony, the minister made the customary statement, “If there be anyone here who has an objection to this marriage, let him speak now.” Right then members of my wife’s family started a filibuster.

LLP: Your wife’s family didn't approve of you?

DD: Let me put it this way. One of my wife’s relatives served as the photographer. When the photos were developed, I discovered that my head was cut off in every photo.*

LLP: Was there any other trouble during your wedding?

DD: Before or after the police showed up in riot gear?

LLP: Uh, before.

DD: Well, there was the incident that set off the riot.

LLP: What happened?

DD: It happened at the end of the ceremony. The minister made the customary statement: “Now you may kiss the bride.” Before I could make my move, my wife was in a lip-lock with my best man. Behind him were all the other men, standing in a line.

LLP: Is that when you started the riot?

DD: I didn't start the riot. The minister did. He cut in line.

LLP: How did your wife react?

DD: She left before the police arrived. When I asked her where she was going, she replied, “I have a date.”

LLP: Didn't you object?

DD: Of course I objected. I told her that I deserved her respect. She replied, “If I wanted to marry a man who was respectable, I would have married Rodney Dangerfield.”

LLP: Ouch! That must have hurt. Did anything else go wrong?

DD: Well, after the wedding, I didn't see my wife again for several days. The next time that I had contact with her was when she sent me a post card. On the back of it, she had written, “Having a wonderful honeymoon.”

LLP: Gee, that is awful. Why did your wife marry you in the first place?

DD: She said that marrying me was the penance that her confessor assigned to her.

(*True Story)

Sadly, my wife perished. To help with the cost of her funeral, some of her relatives volunteered to provide a headstone for my wife's grave. On it, above her name, are the words "FREE AT LAST!"

As for attending another person's wedding, I attempted to do that after I crashed ...err... landed on planet Earth.

I was walking by a church, when I noticed a limousine parked in front. I thought that an Earth wedding was taking place, and so I went in.

Once inside, I saw a group of people listening to a minister giving a speech. I noticed that many of the people were wearing all-black outfits. Flowers were scattered everywhere. I began looking forward to eating a piece of wedding cake.

Suddenly, I was caught off-guard when the minister ended his speech with the words, "May he rest in peace."

Rest in peace? How can any groom rest in peace after his wedding? I decided to find out.

I asked the minister, "How is it possible for a groom to rest in peace after his wedding?"

The minister looked at me like this:

Then he said, "Sir, this is a funeral, not a wedding."

"What's the difference?" I asked.

"The difference," said the minister, "is that when a man dies, his rest begins. When a man gets married, his rest ends."

"Oh," I said, "Does this mean that there will be no cake?"

Again the minister looked at me like this:

"What planet did you say you were from?" he asked.

"Melmac," I replied, "Why do you ask?"

I never did get any cake.

Both my weddings were small, family and a few close friends... Not sure if I will marry again but I am going to my grandsons wedding next weekend.. They are having an outside wedding, western style, asking everyone to dress casual.. The bride and attendants are wearing traditional wedding dresses with cowgirl boots, the groom and ushers are wearing jeans, sportcoats, boots and nice shirts.. Cupcakes are one the menu instead of wedding cake...Hope the weather stays fairly warm and dry!

If you were married in the past what was your wedding like?
I never had a wedding, but both on my brother's, who is seven years older, and at my father's, who married again after my mom died, I had to do the consummation because big bro and daddy were too drunk to do it.

What type of wedding would you like to have if you ever decide to get married again?
Garden weeding wedding. Each guest would need to pull ten weeds, before anyone could start to eat.

Or get married for the first time?
Why rush? I'm only 58. I want to LIVE before I get chained down. So far, not much of that has been happening.

Do you like to go to weddings?
Only to those at which daddy or my brother get married. All others were complete bores, if you ask me.

I have to give it to you, you put a lot of effort into that planning. I especially am impressed with the thunderstorm in the plan. It's good to have friends in high places (like Zeus who throws bolts of thunder around, or Thor, who does the same thing, basically).

my first wedding to my high school sweetheart was beautiful, Inside a baptist church with all of our family attending and my father giving me away, and his nephew being the rain bearer, and my best friend as maid of honor and his as best man.

We had an awesome reception at a reception hall afterwards, with catering and wedding cake and band/music, the whole nine yards.

one of the most amasing days of my life.

my second wedding wasnt really a wedding, we just went to the registrar office (brit version of justice of the peace), she gave us the oath and we signed and were legally married.

nothing extremely memorable,,,

I dont think I will marry again, but Im not animately opposed. I Think its as likely as me hitting the lotto, me finding the right 'match' for marriage

but I will be just as happy for them to find me as I would be to hit the lotto..

I enjoy attending weddings, I am happy to see people take their love to that level of commitment....
