so.. what are you doing to keep yerself occupied?

the first time I got soo far ahead on my homework and studies.. I ended up being valedictorian without even attending school most of that last year.. although I couldn't make it to prom..
the 2nd, 3rd and 4th times I read all about the things that fascinated me.. which ended with a CPA degree, a Bachelors in English(writing), a minor in Psychology AND a Bachelors in Business & Management..
the 5th, 6th & 7th time I got into mythology and world history.. and also became the ward champion in crib!
the 8th time I started writing a novel... back then you didn't get to go home during therapy..thank gawd for modern medicine and technology.. things have improved soo much over the years!!
the other times I was in for surgery's so didn't feel like doing much but DID retain my cribbage title!!
from discovery(15) to end(36) my battle was 21 years.. but I BEAT that beotch up sooo badly.. she hasn't reared her ugly head since and STILL managed to bare 2 children!


for me the key to success? figuring out that the mind is a more powerful tool than we've given it credit for.. using lots of humor... allowing my convictions and strengths to beat the odds.. thinking positive about the outcome.. and reminding myself that there's someone out there.. a lot worse off then me!!

Wow Zero you have been through a lot yourself and to have the attitude you have is surly a blessing... Reading this makes one think a lot about what they would do if it was to happen to them... If you can make it and beat it that many times I have nothing in my life to complain about... your surly a inspiration yourself...

One of my ex b/f dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer went through the chemo. He said all his food tasted like rubber to him. Only thing he found that tasted good was oranges lol He ate a butt load of them... And yes he beat it as well... Positive thoughts and keeping the mind occupied is a big help for sure....

Catching up on things Ive left laying around half read.
Quite a bit of writing.
Im staying busy. keepin the mind sharp and occupied with good thoughts.
I have a lot I want to do yet in life,
Im stayin focused and determined to do them!!!
With the inspiration I am recicving....
Its easier than I thought to keep my mind right!!!

you should have seen the expression on the OBGYN's face though when he saw me pregnant the first time.. after telling me repeatedly I'd never have kids..


I saw a lot of people over the years just accept their 'fate'.. and there was no changing their way of thinking because the DOCTORS said it so it HAD to be true.. reality check.. Doctors are human and cannot predict EVERYone's outcome.. they speak from prior experience and the 'odds' only.. which in most cases doesn't account for the tenacity of the patient!!
like when I was hit by a car in '99 and paralyzed.. I was told I'd never walk again.. I played by their rules for 2 years with little success.. when they decided to give up on me I told my doc it was time to do things MY way.. he challenged me to try..
today? He's amazed at my almost FULL(from 7% to 94%) recovery and how I can even dance again.. however.. there's really nothing special about me.. only that I reFUSE to let OTHERS dictate... the quality of MY life!

that and thinking I'm Superwoman!

I owe it all to my dad.. he taught me that there was NOthing I COULDN'T do.. IF I put my mind to it! and 'this too shall pass'.. wisdom I've live by!

it's sad how most believe they've no control over their lives OR it's outcome.. but once the decision for change is made.. ? ANYthing is possible.. and the odds tilt in your favor.. I was soo glad to see your change of heart AND hearing now your conviction and determination.. dude.. 1/2 yer battle is alREADY won!!!!!!
