Topic: Walmart Employees Being BIG Babies!

I feel sorry for people with jobs that have to work Christmas or Thanksgiving. Those days should be sacrosanct.

So what if we miss out on one or two shopping days? I only have so much money to spend anyways.

I would think they have enough employees not to have both parents working on a holiday,,,,

sometimes because you can doesnt mean you should if there are better options,,,

Right, but for that to happen, it would mean Walmart would try to even care about its employees.

You know first hand they don't care about their employees?

Just what I hear from people I know who have worked for them. Can't say I've heard good things.

No company, large or small, really cares about their employees as long as they reasonably perform their jobs at the price they are willing to pay.

One's work experience working for Walmart depends on several factors: store size, store location, personality of store managers, work position. An employee can have a bad experience working at one store and then have a good experience working at a different store.

Also, some people are just not a good match for such retail work.

When I worked for Walmart, I started out as a part-time cashier and ended up as a full-time inventory control specialist. Overall, mine was a good experience.

You can probably say that about any company, not just Walmart. It's nice that you had a good experience there, though.

Being a non-WalMart shopper or worker, I can't imagine taking a job where I would work Thanksgiving or Christmas. The service didn't count, it is special.

Christmas and Thanksgiving are just other ordinary days.

They are very special days for retailers, truckers, manufacturers and good parents providing for their families.

Keep in mind, companies like Walmart expect a lot of their employees for not so much in return. It isn't as if these employees are getting paid a whole lot..

A few greedy employees screw it for not only the ones who want and need the time, they screw the rest of the support chain. All the way to the manufacturer of the crap they sell.

Affecting hundreds of thousands of folks who need to feed their families.

Greedy employees? How so?

The ones wanting to hurt the others on one of the biggest sale days of the year.

Hopefully the company is providing some incentive to want to work on these days.

Again, keep in mind, most of these people are likely making minimum wage. Hardly enough to want to give up important days with their family. Though, unfortunately, many don't have a choice, as it's tough to get jobs these days.

Yup, nothing like wanting to spend time with your family on a holiday to show how greedy a person is.

That is where you are wrong. Walmart associates do not start out making minimum wage.

In my area Wal-Mart employees start at a little over eight dollars an hour, which not technically minimum wage is damn close to it.

What do they start at?

And remember when Black Friday actually started on Friday, rather than thanksgiving? This isn't about shoppers' demands, this is about worrying that another store is going to get more business if they don't open early enough.

You couldn't pay me a million bucks to go shopping anywhere on Black Friday. Or the whole weekend following Thanksgiving for that matter.

As far as being open so employees have to work? I don't see the big deal. Cops, firemen, doctors, nurses, pilots....all these professions have to work the holidays. If some retailers want to be open then that's their right. Lots if people work holidays. No one has a "right" to be home for the holidays.

Don't forget all the restaurant employees that give up their holidays to make sure other people can go out to eat on the holidays.

Yes, retailers do have the right to be open on holidays. But, it's all about making sure they're getting as much, or more business as the next guy.
