I pay 167 and some change a month for my family plan, ten dollar co pay and everything else is paid 100%. My union negotiated our insurance and we have given up some pay increases to get good affordable insurance. The point I am making is this. I KNOW I have a great plan but I also know others pay so much its almost unaffordable for them. That is the trouble its not Obamacare its not dem or republican its a social issue on all levels. Why was insurance so affordable to our parents generation and now its rising ten percent a year until no one can afford it?

Because some people can get away with it and others do nothing about it.

Greed indeed, Greedy lawyers. Anyone in favor of Tort reform?
So many other ways that could have brought down medical cost instead of a MASSIVE TAX. But that's the way liberals see the way to fix things.
How bout.
1. Tort Reform?
2. Flexible Spending Accounts
3. Cafeteria Plans
One that I read about that was individuals and families payed a fixed monthly amount directly to the doctors and or hospital. Cost were low and everyone was happy including the Doctors and hospitals.
Too bad, these will not be possible now under the ACA(Obamacare}TAX.

Insurance goes up according to the expenditure on claims. For instance, after destructive cyclones, floods and bushfires that affected large numbers of people in Australia, insurance premiums skyrocketed. In addition, many suits award exorbitant payouts which are recouped via premiums. Rising medical costs contribute to the hikes in medical insurance premiums.

I know many are suspicious and hate insurance companies, but they are not charities, they are profitable businesses that have to provide dividends and show growth.

There was a time when insurance didn't exist and you paid your doctor directly or the hospital, but predators realized that there was a lot of money to be made off people being sick so some wiz kids came up with the idea of insurance plans, took a while for it to take off but once enough people were enrolled it became common place.

Once people were dependent on this scam they could charge more and more and they have their lawyers write bills that benefit them and had there lobbyists pay off congress to pass these bills to become law.

Big pharm caught onto this and started marketing their drugs which in general only mask your symptoms and not curing anything. These same meds often cause other issues and they quickly learned that there is money to be made of keeping people sick so they had their lawyer write up bills that benefit them and had their lobbyists pay off congress to pass these bills to become law.

Then hospital equipment manufacturers saw the amount of money being made by insurance and pharm companies so they started grossly over charging for theri products and had their lawyers write up bills to benefit them and had their lobbyists pay off congress to pass the bill to become law.

If we as a nation want to change anything we must get the money out of DC, which is why I ignore the top two parties for the overwhelming most part and mostly pay attention to 3rd party candidates.

3rd party candidates may not have all the answers but then neither do the crooked mother****ers sitting there now ****in this country up for personal gain.

Thats why the government needs to step in peoples health should not be a for profit business.

the same way min wage has gone up in value less than a dollar in over 60 years, because business gets away with it and people give them the reverence and authority to do so,,,

The minimum wage in Australia is 16 bucks an hour, Icant help but wonder why some of our Australian friends are not fighting to eliminate it and let the whims of the marketplace dictate terms of pay:wink:

With the conservatives in power, workplace relations will probably be undermined further, just as they were during their last tenure in office.

I agree in theory regarding the regulation of medical costs, and we do enjoy that to a degree here, however, too much regulation will encourage medical professionals to look for opportunities offshore. It's finding an equitable balance that is the key, and the difficulty.

Just stop paying, hold off and pay the tax at the end of the year. If you get sick, sign back up with the insurance then, they can't turn you down even if you are ill.

Yeah, I looked on my state's exchange website and plans that differed in price by several $hundred, too. Choice sucks, huh?

I don't think she was referring to the different prices of plans.

I think she was referring to the minimum increase she was obligated to pay for similar coverage... maybe worse coverage.

Get rid of the central banks, the federal reserve system, the fiat currency money manipulators and changers who have devalued the dollar by 98% since 1913 by taking us off the gold standard and keeping the presses rolling non-stop to fuel gov'ts greedy for power, and the corporate casino called wall street....

Things might actually improve once again returning power to the people

The fiat currency system will eventually fail anyway, won't be pretty when it does. 2008 was only a burp, but history shows it always fails......and will again....soon
