Topic: Is online dating "right" for Christians

as a young Christian woman I question even whether dating in itself is ok (in that I believe more in courting) but these beliefs seem so outdated that I doubt I'll ever find my other half that way. However I want to meet him sometime soon and in modern culture I'm wondering if online is the right way to go or is that kind of saying that I don't trust God to lead the right man across my path in his own way and his own time
Any opinions here? (Or any Spirit-Filled Christian men from Northern Ireland on this? lol)

Dating is just whatever you want it to be. It is not a reason to rush into a sexual or emotional relationship if that is not what you are looking for. Friends first usually works the best and Mingle is a good way to do that. But everyone is different.

Set your own rules and stick by them.

Welcome to Mingle2.

During biblical times, there wasn't any dating as we now know it.
Fathers arranged marriages for their children.

I think it would depend on your true intent...
There is nothing wrong in expanding your horizons
And increasing your chance of finding someone who can truly make you happy....

Temptation is much greater because of the available option to manage potential "relationships"
With multiple "Candidates" online
But if you keep your integrity and beliefs first and foremost
I can't imagine "Dating sites"
As doing anything "Wrong"

"God helps those who help themselves"
Right ?
biggrin

{P.S. JMHO}waving
Because I am honestly NOT a good Christian}

I DON'T REALLY THINK THAT THERE IS ANY KNOWN SIN IN DATING. HOWEVER, IT PAINS ME THAT CROOKS, FRAUDSTERS AND CHARLATANS FROM MY COUNTRY, NIGERIA HAVE BASTARDIZED IT BY DEFRAUDING FOREIGN WOMEN, TO THE EXTENT THAT GENUINE AND FORTHRIGHT MEN LIKE US ARE ALSO SEEN IN THE SAME LIGHT WHEN WE SHOW INTEREST IN FOREIGN WOMEN, ESPECIALLY THOSE IN U.K. AND U.S.A. IT REALLY HURTS TO BE CLASSIFIED AS A FRAUDSTER WHEN ONE IS NOT.

Online dating worked for me once as we were married for six and a half years. Courting, I think, was awesome. Courting is so much harder to conceal. It is like you are with them and they are with you and just about everybody can tell that. Love shouldn't be something that you ashamed of.

You just spoke my mind. I'm disappointed at some post here as the foreigners see we Nigerians as scamers, hackers, that makes them think a snake would not fail to give birth to something that has tail thinking that we are birds of thesame feathers. That's exactly what's happening online even in some profile you could see some write ups like "please, if you're from Nigeria don't mail me" I'm just tired.

Some find success in online dating.

It is not a sin.

If it were a sin we'd all be found guilty by association, if nothing else.

We all signed on to mingle2 and gave a preference. slaphead

People should not be anxious to find love and relationships.

Take your time everyone..............

be prayerful...................

study God's word.....................

prepare yourself to be a good friend or mate.

Society, in its present state, has hurt the dating scene. Christians can date, but it is rather how it is done!!!! Be graceful and careful of whom and even why you date. I do believe in a higher power and when He sends someone your way, you will know and feel it. I used to be around people when I was younger who truly believed in the dating scene and made great pains to select mates.

I know that men and women have been chasing each other since time immortal (even in Jesus's time). Bring old fashioned morals and reach into the belief systems you possess and you will see the results you seek. Stand on what you believe and even pray if that is your thing.

Courting is simply an older version of dating The only real difference is the inclusion of a chaperone. There is nothing stopping you taking along a trusted chaperone with you on any dates you may go on. These beliefs are NOT out-dated. Was there an expiry date placed on the Bible? I don't recall finding one. Finding your "other half" this way should be just as easy (or difficult) as not using a chaperone. Simply because if he is truly interested in you, then he should understand that you are only following what you believe in and that if he is to be a real and lasting part of your life, then he needs to know that your beliefs are deep and very important to you. You don't want to find in 10 or 20 years time that he has (slowly over time) turned you into someone you are not. Finding someone "soon" should not be as important to you as finding the right person for you to spend forever with. One last thing ... How do you know that finding someone online is not the way that God has chosen for you to meet someone?
I pray you will find what you seek.
Take Care.

We are called to spread the good news to the world. This is a way to meet people we normally would not have the chance to meet. You never know whose lives you are impacting just by loving someone. I think if you really pray and keep your relationship with God strong and focused on HIS will then you are doing God's will.
