According to the weather channel, more than 100 casualties, and more than 100 injuries. From what i can gather, most of these were from Leyte, we do have a lot of members from there, and my continued prayers for all of the Philippines.

Heavy rain and flooding is inevitable. Some areas are without communication, and the toll is expected to rise.

Taken from earlier CNN reports and this report. (the audio is bad, but the video shows major destruction. http://www.weather.com/news/weather-hurricanes/super-typhoon-haiyan-latest-news-20131108

I was just watching Global BC and the segment was
also about a large community in Winnipeg Ca
of about 60,000 that are already around
the table in/for support and relief aid.
many don't no the status of family.
continuing prayers and support.

Thanks Jamie and to all the Minglers here  for your continuous prayers and support to all the victims of "Yolanda" typhoon particularly in the areas of Tacloban City, Iloilo, Cebu & other areas in the Visayan region. Tacloban City had experienced worst. I'm still blessed that I'm far from these areas. Our country had experienced a lot of devastating calamaties like the quake that striked Bohol, typhoon in Zamboanga after MNLF terrorism attack & the latest, storm surge and strongest typhoon this year. We are always thankful that we're slowly recovering after every devastating event our country faces. I'm so much thankful for all your help, to all the people around the globe, for your prayers, donations, aid & many other things you've given. May God continue to bless each of us!!!

Skype calls into the neighborhood church from there says that the damage to any of the smaller structures is extensive. Most of the people tried to prepare and appreciate the technological support and intervention efforts. They are holding on hoping that those who can will continue to be supportive to business and tourism. What looks like will be a massive effort to recover from the earthquakes and storms may take time but young and old are already cleaning up as best they can in clearing skies.

Mark, this is just killing me...Over 1200 and counting...Haiyan was even worse than predicted, devastating...Here is some information on how anyone can help and also info on how to contact friends or family members in the Philippines...

HOW YOU CAN HELP

.. The American Red Cross has volunteers spread throughout the region and accepts donations online. You can also mail a check to your local American Red Cross chapter designating Philippines Typhoons and Flood in the memo line.

.. The U.N. World Food Programme is urging Americans to make donations to support its emergency food relief after Typhoon Haiyan. You can donate online or by texting the word AID to 27722 to donate $10.

.. AmeriCares is deploying medical aid and a relief team to Philippines, and says an emergency shipment with enough medical aid for 20,000 survivors is already on its way.

.. The Philippine Red Cross has deployed staff and volunteers across the region. You can easily make a donation through organization's website.

.. To donate to the Salvation Army's Typhoon Haiyan relief efforts, visit its website or text TYPHOON to 80888 to donate $10 and reply YES to confirm your donation. The organization uses 100% of all disaster donations in support of disaster relief.

.. Looking for someone in the Philippines area that is in your family or a friend? Google has launched a person finder for the storm, also known as Yolanda in the Philippines, where you can try and find out someone's whereabouts or enter your own information.

Thanks for posting the correct info to make it easy so everyone can do something to help in this terrible disaster. Gifting a friend, or mentor, or someone who already has more stuff than they can ever use by gifting in their name is a great way to celebrate the upcoming season. Even if it is a dollar it adds up.

Many of the multitude of Phillipino's all over the world will be doing local fundraisers where you can donate items for sale, buy great food, enjoy the culture, and support the extended families that are agonizing during this difficult time.

The Philippines have my prayers.
