buy a phone as cheap as you can... then you can have it jail broken to match the service you want...

i jail broke my iPhone 4 from Verizon, costing me 110 dollars a month,
to cricket for 45 dollars a month.. everything works the exact same...

I have service through Boost - it runs off the Sprint network. I don't have any problems with them. In my area right now they are running a special $35 unlimited everything (but I think it's only for 6 months, then it will probably go back up to $55, but will decrease with certain number of on-time payments).

Hey Moe, I read somewhere (and maybe tis exactly what
YOU are talking about) that one can take one of those
cheap, no contract phones and pull out something, replace
it with a new something, and it works just fine...is this so?

(I did not know what the thingy was so it made no impression
on me, like what it was..)

Cricket sucks here.

So far, ATT gives me the best service.

I screwed up getting a go phone with windows.

The SIM Cards are smaller now also.

If that phone uses a Sim card, you can unlock it online relatively cheaply, then use whatever service you want. Most carriers these days have good plans, depending where you live. A lot depends on what you want it for; talk and text only, or with data included. Unlimited talk and text runs $30 per month, depending on carrier. $40 and up if you want data. For occasional uses, pay per use plans might work better than monthly. Boost, Verizon, T-Mobile, Metro PCS and Straight Talk.

I know someone who does the "thingy" to make the old cell phones work.

I have Boost as well..... my service plan is $40 a month started out as $55 every six months they drop it $5 not sure if mine will drop any lower.... But I have unlimited everything and does not matter how much internet I use.... I did pay outright for the phone I have now cost me $200.... They text me every month to remind me to pay which I do over the phone...

Only issue I have is picking up reception in certain buildings...

That's way too technical.

I get unlimited internet, unlimited calls to UK No.s and unlimited texts for 30 ( $45 ) a month on the 3 network. Any trouble with a phone and I give it to my mates brother, as he used to work for Samsung. Handy guy to know!
