I drink it. Because it is readily available to children so I doubt water companies would risk putting anything harmful in it. But a lot of adults still refuse to drink it. That is why shops make a fortune selling bottled water.

Probably ok for kids, but best to do some research.

There are countless types of flourides, some are safe and even productive to health and well being, others are poisons.
Unlike pretty much every other country in the world, legislation in the US allowing for water flouridation doesn't specify the type.
What that means is that silicaflourides, which is industrial run-off can be dumped in waterways by wealthy business people in the US, and they can just call it "water flouridation" and it's legal.

So whilst the argument against water flouridation is a conspiracy theory and nothing more in countries across Europe and the Commonweatlh, specifying sodium flouride, in the US this isn't so much a conspiracy theory as a valid concern about legislative corruption in the hands of powerful corporations which most certainly can and do put the general public at risk.

But that's the style of government american conservatives like, the free market. That's what it buys you, can't have the ball without the stick.

here in the US it will depend on where you live. Moat tap water is treated by a municipality unless one has a well in a rural area. I had a well for a long time until recently. I still haven't got used to city water.

I usually drink bottled water.

well said. even rural well owners need to be mindful of local water table conditions and who is polluting. In the U.S. those who criticize too loudly usually end up the recipients of personal attacks such as " crazy," "paranoid" or as conspiracy theorists. When the truth is that the EPA is not consistent in it's oversight to protect water quality even tho that IS their JOB. We have issues in Ohio the Dept of Natural Resources is finally responding to. And I wonder if the Ohio EPA is totally out to lunch...

Water and water treatment is different everywhere. If you are concerned, check the actual content of your local water supply. Ground water (well water) is usually better than surface water (from lakes) but not always.

Put a carbon filter on your kitchen sink for drinking water.

The industrial waste fluoride used in water systems is considered safe. It is checked for toxic chemicals. Usually, it is arsenic, lead, and other contaminants that pose the real threat.

Would you drink sewer water? Probably not, but soon millions of people in Southern California, and possibly other places, will be drinking purified sewer water.

For the time being, I have 2 deep wells with an abundance of pure, clean, ice cold water.
The oil and gas industry may change that.
I intend to keep them off my land by any means necessary.
Sure, money talks...but I'm not listening.

I can't speak for England, but in the US, we can Google "consumer confidence report" to see what's in the water. Worried about the floride? You can compare how much is in there as opposed to what you might get from the next County or state.

And to think, if you hadn't just what may have happened. But then why know, we all die sooner or later anyway.

Yep, that's what it does for ya. Gives you that sense everything is ok but why know, let someone else figure it out.

Let's see, we'll skip over the chlorine, that is easy to filter out but how about that fluoride? Know what fluoride really is? A heavy metal. Know what heavy metals do to the body, like lead, mercury, and fluoride? Not good.

But what is fluoride they use in the water? A toxic chemical remaining during the manufacturing process that is very expensive to get rid of because of the toxicity. It cannot be released into any water source because of the toxicity pollution. Against federal mandates. Just imagine.

But hey, why not convince someone that fluoride is good for the teeth and sell it to the government to be added to the drinking water.

So more dribble or are there sources to back this claim. Doubt the sources so that leaves dribble. Fluoride is fluoride, a heavy metal, period.

That will come as a surprise to chemists, because fluoride is an anion of fluorine, and fluorine is a diatomic nonmetal gas.

Fluorine comes after oxygen on the periodic table of the elements.

I think you had better hit your Chemistry-Text again and look up Fluorine!
And stop drinking Tea,it's got Oodles of Fluorides in it!

We have a well so I drink this water. The water from the plastic bottles are not good for people. The chemicals in the plastic leak into the water.
