also want to speak tonight directly to Muslims throughout the world. We respect your faith. It's practiced freely by many millions of Americans, and by millions more in countries that America counts as friends. Its teachings are good and peaceful, and those who commit evil in the name of Allah blaspheme the name of Allah. The terrorists are traitors to their own faith, trying, in effect, to hijack Islam itself. The enemy of America is not our many Muslim friends; it is not our many Arab...

And I'm not a student of religion, but I don't find anything in what the principal teachings of Islam that put us in contradiction at all. In fact, the principles are the same as what—we have a diverse religious culture. But it's kindness, it's be good to your neighbor, it's love, and it's take care of children. It's all these things that—so there's no anti-Islam.

The countries which have sponsored and built this Islamic Center have for centuries contributed to the building of civilization. With their traditions of learning and rich culture, the countries of Islam have added much to the advancement of mankind. [...] Civilization owes to the Islamic world some of its most important tools and achievements. From fundamental discoveries in medicine to the highest planes of astronomy, the Muslim genius has added much to the culture of all peoples. That...

And I should like to assure you, my Islamic friends, that under the American Constitution, under American tradition, and in American hearts, this Center, this place of worship, is just as welcome as could be a similar edifice of any other religion. Indeed, America would fight with her whole strength for your right to have here your own church and worship according to your own conscience. This concept is indeed a part of America, and without that concept we would be something else than what we...

Today, March 21st, is New Years Day in much of the Moslem world. New years, of course, should be an occasion for celebration. But for the Moslem people of Afghanistan, whose country was attacked and is occupied by the Soviet Army, it is a bitter reminder of a national calamity that befell their nation more than 3 years ago. To focus the world's attention on this crime against an innocent and brave nation, we observe today the second annual Afghanistan Day.

all the above quotes,, none supporting a fear muslims/anti muslim sentiment,, were also from the president, but not THIS president

what is supposed to make the country great is freedom of religious practice, not persecution of religious choice,,,

those 25 Drivers need to look for another Job!
Obviously they are not cut out to be Public Drivers!
A Job in a Mosque or in a Halal Foodshop would probably be more appropriate!
Then maybe too, they could be in the wrong Country, and Pakistan,Afghanistan(Tribal Areas) or Saudi Arabia would suit them better!

I don't know how that particular cab company works, but I was a cabdriver once,, I 'leased' the vehicle with my own money and then drove around and gave the company the lions share of the fares

if I am 'leasing' a vehicle, I don't see why I should have an obligation to take whatever is available to drive

It is not like a regular job with an empoyer who hires and pays you to do a job,, it is a conractor thing where you lease equipment to earn money

I would likewise not drive a vehicle promoting a 'gay' event,,,,

Do you have ANY idea what a hack license and medalion costs these days?

THOUSANDS! It's different in the smaller rural communities, but in the cities like Cleveland, they've run the small independents out of business!

perhaps they would like to lose their jobs?

It's ridiculously petty. Gay individuals have as much right to advertise as anyone. Personally I'd rather drive a cab that advertises a gay event than a Muslim one. But neither would interfere with me performing the obligations of my job duties.

And the United States does nor "support" Islam. Certain Countries and certain people who worship Islam are specific enemies of this nation.

Anywhere where Muslims try to make their religion more important than respect for civil law and liberty, it is not welcome. That is not just a distinction for Muslims but for any religion. We are predominantly a Christian country, but even Christians must live within civil law.

well I don;t really care because I am neither of those things. But I am also not concerned with political correctness. If someone who is muslim does something stupid I will say so....plus some tend to forget that Islam (extremists) are an enemy of the United States in much of the Arab world. Those sympathies could easily be construed as treasonous depending on the circumstances. Any type of extremism in religion is just plain messed up. In this country people are allowed religious freedom to worship as they wish but their religion does not belong in the workplace or in government....that goes for any religion. That is how we maintain a society where all religion can coincide...it is kept strictly private.

If muslim cab drivers don;t wish to work, I guess they will lose their jobs. I just don;t want my taxes supporting them with free hand outs while they bicker over stupid nonsense.

free to choose, bottom line

we are free to choose which vehicle we purchase on a car lot, and we are likewise free to choose what vehicles we will LEASE in a cab business,,,,,you don't drive and you don't get paid,, seems like simple freedom that really needs no explanation and deserves no criticism

others will drive the cars that I may not prefer to, but what should set me apart in AMERICA is the right to feel like I can choose for myself without being chastised for it,,,
