Folks, Ventura didn't sue a widow. He sued her husband before he died.
If Ventura was falsely accused of wrongdoing, then he had every right to use the legal system to clear his name.

He started proceedings before the man died, but continued on after he died and sued the widow which many believe since the husband and War Hero is dead it should have been dropped.

Jesse is a broke nobody lunatic. That is why he went back to Vince McMahon begging for a job back recently. He shot his mouth off and got his a$$ kicked, plain and simple and he deserved it.

obviously not or he would not have won the law suit

he has never sued the widow he sued the author of the book

the book does not stop being sold upon the authors death

thus the obvious slander continues

he sued the books proceeds thus the estate of the author

maybe if the widow would have pulled the book from publication
and from the shelves he would have dropped the case

He slandered a drug addicted ex wrestler who talk down on members of the military every chance he gets and who keeps getting fired fro jobs he gets. I am glad that Sniper put him on his a$$.

It's called Karma Jesse, you will get yours.

Show some respect... He won his lawsuit and had every right to defend himself in a court of law.

I do have a problem with retired soldiers tooting their own horn in a book. It's self serving horsechit celebrating death in a military conflict.

I can't wrap my head around it being a good idea to bring a fellow comrade in arms suffering from PTSD to a rifle range. How ridiculous!

Seems Kyle himself displayed bad judgement on more than one occasion. drinker

In all fairness, liberal slant is in the title.

Says in the article, the suit was started before Kyles death. While he was still alive.

He didn't go after a widow. It just ended that way.

I don't get it. The book doesn't mention Ventura by name.
What ever happened to sticks and stones may break my bones but name will never hurt me.
Ventura should have been the bigger man and dropped the lawsuit after Kyle's death.

Kyle later admitted on The O’Reilly Factor that he had been referring to Ventura.

As reported in the New Yorker, Kyle said he overheard Ventura talking loudly that night about why he opposed the war in Iraq. Kyle said he asked Ventura to keep his opinions to himself, partly out of respect for relatives in town for the wake for Michael Mansoor. When, according to Kyle, Ventura said that “we deserved to lose a few guys” over there, Kyle punched him, and Ventura “went down.”

It was after the O’Reilly broadcast that Ventura filed defamation charges.

“He never hit me. I don’t even know who he is,” Ventura told Piers Morgan on CNN. “This never happened. [This lawsuit] has always been about clearing my name and getting back my reputation. I was accused by this gentleman of committing treason; that’s very serious. In fact, it’s a capital offense in the military. It’s not about money; it’s about my reputation.”

This true. Ventura filed a defamation lawsuit against a defendant who was a live at the time that the lawsuit was filed.

By the way, the deceased defendant's estate still benefited from the sales of the deceased's book, which, until now, contained the defamation. Now, the books's publisher is going to removed the defamation from the book.

Itike I said Ventura is never. Mentioned by name.
Just what was said in an interview. One mans word against another.
If what Kyle said on oreilly wasn't true then Ventura had no need to sue.
After all we all know everything on Fox News is a lie right.

Ventura was defamed. So he did have cause to sue.

And, no, everything on Fox News isn't a lie, but that is besides the point.

So claiming to have punched someone out is defamation?
Obama should resign and sue all those who have said worse about him. GWB I'm sure would have several hundred lawsuits. Sara Palin, Mitt Romney, Joe Biden...... Need I go on? They've all had way worse things said of them.
In my opinion it was a frivolous law suit.

lol, this isn't political, this is legal

claiming that someone who worked with Navy Seals said that they deserved to lose is defamation of character,, if they never said it yes,,,

If OBama wanted to sue a party for defamation he could, but Im doubting its on his list of priorities

Politicians and pundits always have the option of recanting a misquote,,and usually will,, however, in the case of a BOOK being sold with a misquote in it,,,,the remedy is more complex and the misquote needs to be removed or the book needs to no longer be sold,,,

It was shameful for Kyle to put Venturas life in danger over something so ridiculous... Even if those things were said.

I thought they watched each others backs? whoa
I guess money made off a book changes all that once they retire? ill

True, but he would have shown class if he had dropped the suit when the man died. He didn't.

BTW, his real name is James George Janos.

Ventura's reputation was wrongfully tarnished.
The only way that he could right the wrong was for his lawsuit to continue after the defendant died.

You mean like when he tarnished it when he was running for Governor and falsely claimed he was a former Navy Seal and rode those coat tails until people learned the truth then he said he misspoke. F-him

that seems like quite the overreaction over semantics

having someone close who was a UDT, I can tell you, they were the precursor to seals, and train with seals, and are considered by other seals to be a seal as well,,,

any great soldier have written books about their experiences going back to the days when The Art of War was written, it reminds us of history.

In all fairness, liberal slant is in the title.

The right thing to do would be to drop the suit after his death.

No they weren't. At the time Ventura was UDT they had several Seal Teams. In no way shape or form was he a SEAL, and he had to come out and admit that during his campaign.
