Anyway I feel I am on a roll now.....
I guess the best advice is....
remember who counts most to you, your partner or the rest of the world.....
who makes you happy and feel good.....
who supports you and is there in bad as well as good....
don't let your friends trash your partner, regardless of their so called good intentions.....
show where your loyalty and heart is and defend your partner.....
this will stop future crap and reinforce your partners confidence.....
no person on this planet has the right to judge you in matters of the heart.....
and you will find few if any have the experience or knowledge to give solid advice.....
good luck to you all. drinker

Although I agree that no one should judge you for who you are with; its still not that simple. There are lots of variables when it comes to dating. For instance, working with law enforcement and the military; it would be a bit dicey dating someone with a criminal record or say who did drugs. Teaching children; the parents would not be real keen on me dating a younger guy. My family is important to me and they need to also get along. For me; its all about image and dating the wrong person would make my life unbearable; maybe even cause me to lose my job or my position doing volunteer work. So, it may sound awaful but partners come and go in your life but once your reputation is down the toilet; you life is screwed. I guess it helps though that I have never found younger men attractive and actually most of them turned out to be very creepy. laugh

There were a couple of times I had to keep her strapped in.

weapons the first time you turned your back :-)

Another tip is to not be patronising about her age. This may sound obvious but if you're like me you're probably going to talk quite a lot about things that were before her time. That's fine but for Christ's sake don't tell her that you have T-shirts that are older than she is.
Ummmm....I probably wouldn't be harping on about the past man.....a few things not to say.....
When I was your age.....
Young people are so.....
Oh you weren't even born when this album was released.....
You were still a toddler in 1985? Ewww.....

Just sayin....

Well, that's kind of what I was saying and when I do find myself saying stuff about "how I remember when" I try to turn it into a humorous thing and make a little joke about me sounding like an old fart. That way it doesn't come across as being patronising.

Talking about the past isn't such a bad thing though because as an older guy with life experience that hopefully hasn't led a sheltered life you do have plenty of things that you can talk about and the conversation won't dry up. Also, you can talk about all of the immature things that you did when you were a young guy because you aren't like that anymore, wheras a young guy talking about immature things that he does would just make her see him for what he is.

the stage of development of own's own brain will always be equal to the development of the brain who one self is attracted to.

Oh, forgot to mention that you'll have to deal with jealousy from guys your own age as well. They will try to put you down and pretend that you're somehow settling for a younger woman because that's all that you can get, which is ridiculous obviously.

Needless to say, another tip is to not care about what other people think or say. You're your own man and a grown adult and don't require other people's approval.

Actually, if you look at pictures of Jim Morrison his hair was going gray when he was in his mid twenties. Some put that down to his lifestyle and problems but I read somewhere that he claimed that all of the men in his family went gray early.

BTW, my hair is longer now than it is in my profile pictures because I haven't had it cut since then. I compare my hair to his because it's the same colour and I've got the cascading curls. Apparently he was of Scottish ancestry.

I feel okay about having long hair at my age because I don't have a bald spot. I think that probably comes from my mother's side because my maternal grandfather and uncles didn't lose their hair.

Aw thanks klc but Jim's face was kind of feline and rounder than mine. I do have blue eyes though.

Going back to something that somebody said earlier, he was about six feet tall and was very slim and had lost his puppy fat back in 67 when The Doors knocked the Beatles off from number one in the charts and he became a sex symbol. The story goes that when he was writing those first songs he was living on a friend's rooftop and not eating. Fasting and having mystical visions. People say different things about how he put on weight. Some say that he was trying to overcome the sex symbol image that he had created for himself because he wanted to be taken seriously as a poet. Others say that he simply got sloppy and was embarrassed about getting fat and that he would shave and do the bolemia thing when he had to do a tour or album cover.
